And you just proved yourself a troll. You get nothing.

Now stop wasting my time and go do something useful like telling your friends to see the film. It won the weekend but the numbers are low. It has to increase box office the second week in order to stay ahead of the newer films or it'll fizzle and the producers won't get funding for another movie. The big picture.

What rock do I live under? Hmmm.... Let's see... It might be the masters in education in English I have, or the years studying Shakespeare and movies. My decade in screenwriting, learning, creating, teaching and inspiring others to make better movies.

So you have a choice: you can remain the ignorant, feces-throwing troll that pretends mediocre films are great because they stroke your heart-strings and offend liberal Hollywood, and thereby remain muted and insignificant in the cultural conversation, or you can take my note, learn something, inspire better movies and actually make an impact in our culture.

No, it poses no hard questions...

Because they're already answered. Like a samurai who considers himself dead when he goes to war, these SEALS KNOW -- and the audience knows if they know ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING about SEAL Team -- that they will put the mission above family issues, every time.

And the movie gives it exactly as much consideration as it deserves - under a minute. A newbie SEAL might spend the movie questioning his choices, and it would have greater impact on the audience. In The Godfather, Michael takes over 20 minutes to commit to killing his father's enemies. In Shawshank, Red takes an unknown but considerable time to break parole.

I could go on for hours but I shouldn't have to. That Seal's decision surprised no one. It was obvious, and he made it long before the movie started. God bless him for it but it wasn't hard. Go back and read the analysis again. I'm talking about bigger things than your simple visions of sacrifice. I'm talking about inspiring a nation to do the same. And make better movies. Thus endeth the lesson.

No, you're wrong, and your argument is full of straw men. The reason why SOOOOOO many critics have panned it is not all because of bias. Some, yes. It's easy to resent the MSM (as I do) but if you don't consider the bigger storytelling perspective, you'll never change anyone's mind. And your movies will stay in the ideological ghetto.

You adore the story because it strokes a particular cord with you, its moral sense, the nobility of the Seals, the sacrificial nature of their service. God bless them, but that doesn't elevate the storytelling.

It is a story of a mission and people gave their lives. The action gives it wide appeal those who like that action but it gives little else to those who don't. It poses no hard questions. It does not challenge the audience, but merely holds up Seals as heroes. Adding elements that deepen character or expand theme does not cheapen a story but gives it even wider appeal. It makes it a BETTER story. And that keeps it in the theaters and the public consciousness longer.

Patriotism, jingoism and MSM bias aside, we still have storytelling concerns with Act of Valor. For analysis: http://www.bren.us/act-valor-or-why-hollywood-sup...

I can't believe Fox News is talking about Newt dropping out, that he's leaning back during the debate and all. He WON the debate. Carry on. It only makes us stronger.

Clearly the other 50% didn't understand the question.

But to be a true believer in the state IS to be stupid, ignorant and corrupt. And yes, the price will be very high indeed.

Liberals have to realize that the tax system is not designed for social engineering but for raising money to fund government. The right question is not how to fleece the rich to pay for the government, but how pull in sufficient funds. This means STOP thinking about tax RATES and think of REVENUES.

But here's the problem: a government that borrows 40% of what it spends is spending too much. The rich CAN'T cover that spread. There isn't enough money. Period. You can't tax enough to create balancing revenues without destroying our economic system. So, the ONLY alternative is to LOWER SPENDING..

And to do that, we need a new president. Obozo will never learn.

I think we have to get over this concept of Romney inevitability. Imagine for a moment that the presumptive GOP heir LOSES to a more populist Newt or Santorum. That would have a interesting effect on the electorate. Yes, I know the arguments against them and I've stopped caring.

Romney's negative campaign is making everyone weary of this election cycle.

I want an ideological candidate who is tough on foreign policy, smart on economics, light on social issues (for big tent reasons), and yes, one who is admittedly bad at golf. We already got someone lousy at foreign policy, stupid on economics, strong on social engineering, and seemingly decent at golf. He has to go. ABO

Wait, Chriss, the whole thrust of this article is supposition. You have several paragraphs of setting, relating the price of oil in comparison to other things, but you haven't made any direct connection to Big Oil. You might be right but Big Gov has more push than Big Oil.

OMG, it's like watching a comedy routine, like 'Buck' Turgidson dressing down the president in Dr. Strangelove. This bozo is in charge of a DOJ who fagged out of a Black panther voter-tampering CONVICTION, who then sold illegal guns to Mexican drug cartels in a political move to squash our 2nd Amendment rights, that ended up with the deaths of hundreds of Mexicans and at least one US border agent, and who now thinks he's not getting the respect he deserves for doing what HE considers a good job!

Look, I don't care where you're from, Idaho or wherever, but can we get above the name-calling? Calling me incompetent (for being incompetent) isn't going to strengthen our relationship, and I TRY to treat you (nimrod) senators with respect. And I resent that you think I'm running cover for the president, I mean, that kind of partisan badmouthing in an election year, well, that's just disgraceful. "This is supposed to be a happy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who..."
