We had to evaluate all the evidence according to the law, which the judge instructed us on. It required a lot of thinking and sifting and discussion. It was really hard work.
When we got done and were out, a friend handed me a collection of media coverage of the case, which I has been completely unaware of ( natch), and boy was I shocked. The news coverage was so crazy. It was blowing stuff that was of no importance way way out of proportion, ignoring real stuff infavor of crazy theories that had nothing to do with any facts whatsoever, and seemed actuay to make things up out of thin air. They were trading on people's emotions to get ratings. If we had had the media's version of the whole thing to decide with, a really serious error in justice would have been committed. It would have been a travesty.
So ever since I have mistrusted media coverage of these things. It has no relation to reality. They get amlot of stuff wrong and write stuff that isnt right. The jurors did their job according to the law and the evidence, and if you were not there it's silly to get all lathered up over crazy media coverage of the trial.
I hope I never have to serve again. Some of us needed counseling after hearing some of the things we had to hear.

But still, even as I am fascinated, I am appalled at the loss of life and property. What are we doing wrong? Do we need a federal program to build shelters on every block, or a complete overhaul of the warning system? Or both? Clearly we are not doing enough to project the people in the Midwest. This is simply unacceptable.
Strongest sympathies to those who are suffering from their losses.

There are more motorcycles than ever on the road these days, as fewer young people can afford cars.
Regardless, squid or not, those of us in vehicles need to humbly realize we hold the lives of others in our hands each and every time we get behind the wheel. This is a sacred thing, really. I speak as a driver who once made a mistake that fortunately ended well but could have so easily been a terrible headline.
Assume every driving action you take is going to potentially hurt someone and double check before doing it. Somebody is not going home tonight, and while the exact way things happened is unknown, drivers have to watch out for safe and unwary motorcyclists ( and bike riders, pedestrians- and other drivers) alike.
They all die the same.
Condolences to the family of this person.

What phother said, plus it's spelled "veil".
Gosh, it's almost as if English is your second language or something.
Wouldn't want the rest of us to think near-illiteracy is typical of everybody who has these extreme type of views, would you?
Because that would just be wrong.

This guy is one if the rare mentally ill people who ended being violent. He would have done it in any point in civilization for any reason that set him off. Blaming video games and calling them 'satanic' is lazy minded, unproductive, and does nothing to get at the problem: someone who is seriously mentally ill lost his marbles and committed a horrific crime against an innocent.
No, this is not a sign of the 'end times'. Get a grip. People have been committing horrific crimes since the dawn of time.
He needs to be locked away from the rest of us forever. Treatment of his illness would be good but he should still never be out. Very regrettable he did not get help before he did this- perhaps he could have been diverted. Perhaps.
I am very very sorry for the loss of this precious girl. My thoughts are with the family.
