They are actually a deep orange/red. Depending on the light and time of day they may look more orange or more red.

Wasn't really my intention to be frightening, more like a 'second frozen in time' kind of thing. I guess the use of silhouettes gives it a darker feeling than I intended.

I had to do a number of pastel works for my illustration class and this is the one I feel is the best.
Glad you noticed the impressionist flavour! I was striving for just that.
