You didnt create a new string name "FriendlyName"

Assuming 00-1D-##-##-##-E5 is your PS3's MAC address, in that key, you need to RIGHT CLICK > NEW > STRING.
Then Name that string to "FriendlyName" (F capital, N capital). Once that string is formed, Double click it, and give it a value of your Desired Name.

If you still have any problems changing the name. Give tell me the name that you want to have for your PS3 and I'll make you a reg file, which you will have to just download and open, and it will do the rest of the work..

Also is your PS3 connected to your Router/Modem/PC via Wire (Ethernet Cable) ?
