Sorry that you didn't get the discounted price. You could freely refund it immediately, or optionally you can send us your order id for the refund. Poweramp sale was for 48 hours, actually it lasted 50+ hours.

Poweramp is updated via Poweramp Trial (it's the main app), and usually Market suggest the updates when new update is available. Thanks!

Custom skin support is there from Poweramp v2.0.0. Build 487 added extra skinning abilities into the app.
We're still working on upcoming skin SDK which will allow 3rd party designers to create/modify Poweramp skins.

Please try to reset Poweramp to defaults with Android Settings => Applications => Manage Applications => Poweramp => Clear data.

This can happen if your sd card has more than one paths (some samsungs do that). Please uncheck secondary sd card path in Poweramp settings => Music Folders. For samsungs, sd card exists as /mnt/sdcard/sd and /mnt/external_sd, please uncheck on of these.

Poweramp just uses the effects already provided by HTC in ROM. It should sound absolutely the same as Stock player effect - as Poweramp just turns effect ON the same way stock player does, and the ROM then processes audio, not Poweramp.

Poweramp just uses the effects already provided by HTC in ROM. So if beats is not there, Poweramp can't use it.
