No, it's more that there is NO NIGHTLIFE in Canada unless one wants to get drunk, what live shows there are COST A FORTUNE, our TV SUCKS, we have TERRIBLE PUBLIC TRANSIT, EXPENSIVE AIRFARE/TRAINFARE, LIVE FAR FROM FAMILY, have crazy BITTER COLD WINDCHILLS. In short, what ELSE are we supposed to be doing??? Squaredancing???

The number one indicator of a sexual abuser is not his religious affiliation or family association, but the fact that he is a male. Men, by far, are the sexual abusers of children and women. We don't need to teach children about the dangers of anal sex --- we need to teach men who sexually abuse that they will get at least a lengthy prison term (I'd vote for castration but for some reason our male-dominated governments aren't keen on this punishment). If we were serious about protecting children (and the men in our society really aren't), we would give hefty punishment for pornography possession and ban tv programs that consistently portray women as victims of graphic sexual crimes. People who think that teaching kids about their bodies will in any way prevent sexual assault are in dreamland. The only lesson a child or woman needs to be taught is where the balls are and how to kick them, hard.

Jay, that last comment is really out of the bounds of decency for any parent. Surely you did not mean for that comment to be as insensitive, cruel, and distasteful as you wrote it. I think you could benefit from some sensitivity counselling.

I wonder how the human race managed to reproduce in a very healthy way for all those centuries before Dalton existed?
And all without an Ontario education, too!

This year I will again not participate in Earth Hour.
The Aussies started this commendable idea, and being intelligent humans, they chose to show their effectiveness at shutting down lights and using little electricity by selecting Earth Hour to occur during their summer season, when temperatures run to 30C and the sun doesn't set til 9.30 pm.
The average Aussie will celebrate Earth Day the way he will celebrate the day that preceded it: he will throw a steak on the barbie and relax on the beach with a beer (some activists will paint a few signs and march down a street or two before running off to do the same).
The joke is on us if we chose our "Earth Hour" to fall in our winter season. Does the Earth really care if we decide to celebrate our Earth Hour on July 12th? That's usually when I decide to grill my steak on the old BBQ and sit in my chair at the lake.
Let's ALL feel good about knowing we're doing a good thing! Cheers til then!
