I agree with both sides of this story... the old guy is pitiable but also should be held accountable for his actions. He was probably lonely and insecure which is why he told the lies and he was probably desperate and/or pathologically ill to steal his brother's ID and collect the benefits. I believe he should do more time than just one year but all this ridiculous pompousness that he should be sent off to war is idiotic... Just saying.
