I appreciate the attention to Gaza and the siege that has continued since the state of Israel pulled out in 2005. This siege continues in the West Bank, too, albeit in a different form. I wish that the debates and the campaign more generally would include Nader and Gonzalez so that this issue would get more play in way that is both moral and that pays attention to international law and human rights. In particular, we need candidates who would respect UN resolutions such as 194 granting all Palestinian refugees the right to return to their homes in Palestine.

If only the subject of Gaza, and Palestinians more generally, figured more prominently in the campaign. Of course, that would require Nader and Gonzalez being included in debates. Not only is Gaza not mentioned, neither is international law, like UN Resolution 194, guaranteeing Palestinian refugees the right to return home. There is nothing substantive about the siege in Gaza, and to a different extent in the West Bank. This is so deeply connected to other problems the U.S. has either caused or fomented in the region and we need sensible solutions and people like Nader who can speak about this and other issues in a way that is both moral and respectful of international law.
