Did you see all of the bitter, ugly and upset New England fans when Bob Kraft and the Patriots players were introduced? Wait you mean they received a standing ovation? Gee, many of the media said we are this bitter ugly group who feel betrayed. Once again many in the media still do not get the fan base in Boston.

This is why this Mike Reiss rant is so good. He understands that the majority of fans are nothing like those that Shaughnessy, Buckley or Wilbur would make you believe.

No problem, I wish I had the time to comment on it sooner.

Bruce, I could not agree with you more on DeOssie. I don't know how anyone can now take him seriously on his Patriots takes. It also makes him come off as being ungrateful. New England has made DeOssie a lot of money. We should all have as hard a time as DeOssie has had.

Both Tom Curran and Greg Bedard wrote terrific pieces. Curran's Super Bowl wrap up is spot on and wonderful. I agree with everything he says except Wes Welker. Curran's criticism of Welker though is measured and done with class. Sports Radio could take a lesson from Curran. People like the moronic Michael Felger put the whole reason for the loss on Welker. Glenn Ordway, while hosting the Dan Patrick show, inexplicably said the pass was perfect. When Ordway tried to lead Phil Simms into agreeing with him, Sims did not bite and said the throw was too soft and a little high. As Curran says, there were so many reasons why the Patriots lost, the Welker pass was just one of the reasons.

P.S. I think Brandon Spikes has a chance to be a very special player in the league. I mean all-pro level not the meaningless pro bowl level.

P.P.S By the way, latetodinner also did a marvelous job pointing out all the issues that cost the Patriots.

Greg Bedard explains why people like me do not believe Wes Welker deserves all of the blame on the second down throw in the fourth quarter. I think I may have said this earlier. Was the throw by Brady an impossible catch for Welker to make? absolutely not. Was the throw by Brady unnecessarily difficult? Absolutely. The fact that Brady went back shoulder to Welker shows he did not recognize that the Giants were confused before the snap. I have heard Scott Zolak and Glenn Ordway say that if Brady had thrown to Welker's inside shoulder Kenny Phillips would have lit him up. If that is their belief then both need to have their eyes checked by Dr. Melky. Kenny Phillips was about eight yards from Welker when the ball arrived. If Brady put the ball in the right spot, not only is the catch easier but the score is 24-15 and the game maybe over.

Right now ESPN's Outside the Lines is doing a show on the Patriots and their loss. The guest are Steve Buckley, Dan Shaughnessy, Mike Barnicle and Mike Reiss. The first thing that went through my mind was the old Sesame Street bit. Sing along if you wish.

I know that there are people that dislike Barstool Sports but Thornton and the Rear Admiral are absolute must reads. Both are funny and very informative.

bsm Bonnie will be on Thursday and Friday. Chris Mannix will be on tomorrow. Both are significant upgrades from Ordway.

Jerry Thornton at Barstool Sports and WEEI.com has been on fire lately. Eric Wilbur of Boston.com has backtracked from his Sunday rip job of Tom Brady. Thornton does a terrific job showing how little the media understands its target market. Gerry Callahan and Tony Masserotti are in Thornton's cross-hairs. You may disagree with his take on Barstool Sports but the rest of it is dead on. http://boston.barstoolsports.com/m/random-thought...

P.S. Since Greg Bedard has stopped complaining about getting information from Bill Belichick and has been focused on his work, he has become one of the finest Patriots writers around.

If you are a fan of moronic sports radio today is your lucky day. From Glenn Ordway to Jermaine Wiggins it's been a cornucopia of stupidity. Let's look at three great example:

1) Glenn Ordway - Ordway, inexplicably, has been guest hosting the Dan Patrick show for the past couple of days. Patrick is out due to knee surgery. The rest of the country was able to see what New England puts up with five days per week. Ordway threw this beauty out today, "People in Boston have been blaming Brady for the throw to Welker because they do not like what Gisele had to say about the receivers or fans are worried that Welker will not sign with the Patriots if they blame him for the play." It just shows why Ordway has become completely irrelevant in Boston. Glenn thinks we are just dumb fanboys who cannot have a reasonable take on a play. Glenn is so smart, if you don't believe me just ask him. Ordway must have pictures of Patrick somewhere.

2) Tony Masserotti - Maz started his show saying, "I'm concerned about how the fans are looking at Brady and I'm not talking about the play to Welker only but where he stands in history." Really Maz, were you concerned about how you treated Brady when you wrote that awful piece after Brady got in a meaningless argument with Bill O'Brien? I believe you basically called him a prima donna. Looks like you did not think too much about Tom Brady then. Also what fans are saying Tom Brady's legacy is diminished? I have not heard anybody say this. I can tell you has, MiChael Felger, Maz's partner.

Later on, F&M were talking about Greg Bedard's article which breaks down all 169 targets to Wes Welker. Bedard is trying to show why the throw by Brady was bad. You may disagree, but Bedard does Alex Speier type work in proving his point. Maz's response, "I don't care, the ball was in his hands." Good job by Maz to prove Bedard is wrong. Here is Bedard's article. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/ex...

3) Jermaine Wiggins - Wiggins started out F&M with the old, "I played the game and you didn't." argument which always makes you sound petulant and you lose credibility. He then tries to tell us that the Manningham play is far more difficult then the Welker catch. There is no question both plays are difficult, but maybe the fact that Eli Manning put the ball right in Manningham's hands made it a little easier. I wonder if Brady put the ball in Wes Welker's bread basket then maybe he has a better chance of catching it?

Another way to lose credibility is when you make up your own words. Wiggins said the word "caughten"(pronounced cotton). As you can tell, we are not talking about the plant that is grown in the south which is used in making fibers. Using Wiggins speak, he means, "Welker should have caughten the ball." What a genius.

I hope bsmfan does not mind but I have some good links about the game yesterday. Some of you may have read them but others may not and may like them:

1) Dan Wetzel at Yahoo has great article on Tom Brady after the game yesterday. He looks at the one hour after the game. You see just how painful this loss is Brady. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=dw-wetzel_t...

2) Matt Boutwell of the Maine Sports Network coined the phrase "Yoko" Bundchen a few years back. It was a tongue-in-cheek way to blame Gisele Bundchen for the Patriots problems recently in the playoffs. Yesterday the national media started picking up the mantra after Bundchen, who was being hammered by Giants fans, got frustrated and blamed the receivers for the loss. Bianca Wilfork is with her. Here is the video from the Big Lead who got it from the Insider. Click on the photo if the video does not come up. http://www.theinsider.com/gossip/49452_Gisele_Bas...

3) Bruce Arthur of the National Post up in Canada has a good breakdown of the game. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2012/02/05/super-b...

4) Finally the great Jerry Thornton at Barstool Sports has his final and depressing, Knee-Jerk Reaction to the game. He then eviscerates Eric Wilbur for his ridiculous article on Tom Brady. (both are NSFW for language) http://boston.barstoolsports.com/random-thoughts/...

Class, I have to disagree with you. I put the blame on Brady for that throw. Can Welker make that catch? sure. Should he have needed to make an acrobatic catch? absolutely not. There was not a player within at least eight yards of Welker on the play. All Brady has to do is put it on the numbers. Instead, Brady threw it high and behind him. It was a terrible throw. As far as Manningham goes, he does a great job keeping his feet in bounds. The difference is Manning threw a perfect pass. He put it right in the hands of Manningham and there was no chance a Patriot was going to make the play. The fact that Felger, Maz, Ordway and Holley are all blaming Welker makes me even more sure I am correct.
