"That this amounts to coercion of the states and control by Congress of a matter clearly within the province of the states cannot be denied. If valid, it marks the end of responsible state government in any field in which the United States chooses to take control by the use of its taxing power. If the United States can take control of unemployment insurance and old age assistance by the coercive use of taxation, it can equally take control of education and local health conditions by levying a heavy tax and remitting it in the states which conform their educational system or their health laws to the dictates of a federal board."
From the case 89 F. 2d 368 - Circuit Court of Appeals, 1st Circuit, 1937 in which the Social Security Act was deemed unconstitutional. (Later Appealed)

I wish that Mr. O'Connor would have at least pointed out that fact that had Perry just said there is, "a black cloud hanging over America," there STILL would have been nothing racist about the expression. This phrase is not racist at all, even without the descriptive qualifier, and is a common expression.

It's possible, but it still looks like an out of context attack to me. Especially with the "thanks for the clarification" at the end.

EDIT: spelling.
The guy can't even avoid taking quotes out of context on Twitter!
"Oh you're not defending Perry 'so much'?"
I wasn't aware that a journalist wasn't capable of properly translating the expression I'm not X so much as Y.
Seriously, I can't believe when someone is accusing you of bias in reporting that you would so misconstrue one of their statements that it can only confirm their argument.
I don't normally tweet but in this case I think I'll make an exception.

Since you guys already took "And your little dog too". I'll go with this scene:
Brown: Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive, it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE!
Maddow: Tina - In the name of Obama!
Brown: Oh, in the name of Obama! Now I know what it feels like to be Obama!

This is EXACTLY what I thought as soon as I saw it. I can even hear the theme music.

Actually... I am wondering how my rating? I guess that's what these numbers are here to the side. Keeps going DOWN when all of my comments have a net GAIN? Is it an average?

Can it breathe fire? Yes, yes of course but still even the possibility that it COULD be more vicious shows that you know the answer to your initial question. The Old media can be both dying and dangerous. They aren't mutually exclusive. Just as we know that welfare recipients in their parents' basement can be dangerous, as the recent hacking run has shown.
