It's all the explanation you need for the reference to tyranny. The book is a novel, by definition, fictitious. Perhaps we should all read it before we chime in. The point of the article, after all is to review the book.

I'm sure you're a nice person. But, right now, you are part of the problem. You are no better than the Liberals who tell me to 'tone it down' or 'paint my emotions and portray humanity' instead of all this angry political stuff I do. For goodness sake, woman, "you might sell something if you tone it down a bit". Channel this angry sniping behavior into something productive. Put up or shut up, as they say.
The only redeeming paragraph in your article came at the end. Art is a business. The government should not be involved. If you had started off on that foot, and said something positive, I wouldn't be writing this response.I agree with those two points 100%. Too bad you started with the same angry old argument. No offense, Mr. Graham, but you guys at Big Hollywood need to put your money where your mouth is. If you're serious about doing something, get in touch.
For the full article I wrote in response to this post, please visit http://www.modernconservative.com/liberatchik.php Out of respect for your followers and those who are commenting, I did not want to place my full opinion in your comments. I can be a little wordy. Also, if I haven't pissed you off too badly, look at my work and get in touch with me. I know where you can find some talented artists to promote www.machinepolitick.com

Good job Alvaro. This was a very well-written article and I applaud your dedication. Knowing you as a peer, I relate to the personal nature of this issue on many levels. As Conservative artists, we share many of the same frustrations and experiences with intolerance and aggression from the art community. As parents, we struggle to balance time with our families against the passion to produce art and the burden of being unrepresented.
As you know, I am on a full-scale mission to create and promote a Conservative art movement. I am not only interested in promoting myself, but anyone who will actively participate. I too, bemoan the lack of support from Conservative artists who have achieved success. However, I will not prostrate myself to them any more than to the Progressive agenda. I know from my experiences, particularly the recent 9/12 March on DC, that Americans are fed up with government and the cultural institutions of America. They are looking for an outlet for their philosophy and emotions, and I am prepared to give them a voice.
Anyone who is interested in helping me achieve a full scale campaign for Liberty and Conservative philosophical art should contact me at frances@machinepolitick.com
Also take a moment to look at my work and feel free to comment www.machinepolitick.com I am already working with Alvaro to promote our work on a local level - now we need your help to take it to the national platform and advance our fellows in creative Liberty. We cannot achieve our goals without patronage and encouragement from the Americans for whom we are making a stand. Thanks to everyone for their positive comments and support of Alvaro's work. He is a talented painter who deserves recognition.

Thanks for another great article Alvaro. I'm glad to finally see the painting you talk so much about. It's perfect! Keep up the hard work and your spirits. We have a long road ahead of us, but as I can see from the comments on your last few posts, people are catching on.
I hope to see you guys in DC even if I don't know who you are. I have been offered a trip by a fan of my work and will be on the road, making art, writing in a journal and shooting pictures. I'll also be handing out hand made posters, signed and numbered. Look for the short woman waving MachinePolitick signs and I'll be happy to give you one.
I'll be fighting back against the NEA sponsored art with a little propaganda for the people. Thanks to all of you for your continued support and encouragement.

Thanks again Patrick and stand strong. Everyone here has already covered my thoughts, so let me just say congrats on the big cojones. I'm glad to see a fellow creative taking a stand.
I just made the final arrangements last night to go to the 9/12 Taxpayer March on DC, so my privately inspired and personally funded campaign of dissent is under way. I will be a poster making machine from now until the 12th.
As for 'give me socialism or give me death', I'm sure they thought they were being witty, but as you will see in this video, they were also being literal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyUu-8nbd58

You are absolutely right on all points. Your analogies are perfect for many reasons. The most frightening thing about all of this is the fact that people are missing the big picture. This did not happen over night. It is bigger than Obama and has been building for generations. It does not matter who is in charge, or why they are abusing their power. The loss of liberty and property is inexcusable regardless. I genuinely believe that the entire political structure in America needs to change because there is no significant difference between the major parties.
Obama is Bush is Clinton is FDR, ad infinitum. And on the subject of art: the 'sell out' mantra is a crutch and a tool to excuse lack of talent or initiative. Art is a business like anything else, and I'll starve before I'll take someone else's money through the force of government.

Good job explaining all of that succinctly Greg. Some people would go on believing 'guest' simply because they didn't understand the facts. I wish there were more people with influence articulating these points as well as you are. There's so much drivel and emotionalism out there clogging up the internet and news broadcasts, it's no wonder people have no idea what's going on.
The bottom line is, the government, regardless of affiliation or agenda should not be funding the arts, let alone encouraging a specific subject matter. I am a political artist, so I understand where you are coming from. I am a Libertarian and that is unforgivable in the art community. Add to it a decent understanding of history and America's fight for independence and you really make people angry.
I've been told there's no market for my work. In the Atlanta art community, that is likely true. However, I am not only determined to build a market, but I am going to take as many willing Conservatives with me as I can. Rest assured that I will produce as much propaganda for Liberty and exposure of Liberal lies as I possibly can. We are not alone, and I intend to prevail.
You can't reason with people like 'guest', although I applaud you for putting forth the facts for people who might otherwise march to his tune. I'm sure he feels, like many Liberals I know, that this is a moral issue. You cannot reason with someone who believes that any means, any sacrifice, any use of force is justified because it is for the greater good.

People keep asking for the new Czar's title. Here's my suggestion: I believe it will be Shepard Fairey, the "Liason for Public Discourse and the Arts"

Very nice. I have started building a Conservative art movement if you would like to check it out. My work: www.machinepolitick.com , the Declarationist Art movement is accessible through the Liberatchik banner.
