My signature would be using words in every room somewhere. I am a reader and love words. Words have power to command powerful emotions, and sometimes the simplest ones are the best. Kids love to see their own names on the wall, and I love words that make me smile. There are so many creative ways to display words and use them to achieve the mood you want for your room. We are moving next month, and I am looking forward to putting my rooms together. I want to find an old pantry cabinet or armoire to put in kitchen next to the fridge. I'll paint it and put mmm or yum on it, because that's what I want people to think in my kitchen.
The only way we stay (sort of) organized is to minimize. I have 6 kids and a husband to try to keep track of, so we have one family calendar that has everything. Then I keep a file holder with one section for each person to keep things like sports schedules or paperwork for upcoming activities in so we don't lose them. If all the pens go one place in the house and all the library books go in one place, etc., it's easier to put things away and we can find them when we need them.
sunshine! getting to go for walks and play outside. not having to put winter coats on 6 kids when we go places.
I love my Pepsi One. Caffeine, no sugar, sweetened with Splenda...bliss
The slide is too cool. Potentially dangerous, but very cool.
Growing up, my mom seemed to paint everything blue. She has since moved on to more greens and earth tones, but I came a way with a dislike of blue. When we bought our house, the master bedroom was dark blue with cutesy Americana wallpaper border. That room was instantly repainted green (ahhh), but unfortunately, I don't have the money to redo the kitchen right now. We have country blue walls with a semi-interesting wallpaper border. Just repainting walls wouldn't be so bad, but they also painted the cabinet doors, and now they are all country blue and scuffed and chipped. So I could paint those, too, but we also have country blue laminate counter tops. With a big crack in the laminate no less. And a lovely backsplash of peel-and-stick vinyl tile. Now, my house isn't worth much. I'm not looking for a high-end kitchen, granite counter tops, or anything fancy (though I wouldn't say no), but I just want not blue. We may be moving soon, possibly, not sure, but if not, I hope to invest in the kitchen this summer and make it not blue.
