Imagine an alternate reality where the Persian Empire has risen again.
The US does not have nuclear weapons, Persia does.
The US has been under economic sanctions for years now.
Persia invaded Mexico and Cuba over a decade ago and still has a large military presence there.
Persia conducts drone strikes in Canada from bases all over Canada and the Arctic.
Persia regularly conducts large scale military exercises in the region, simulating the invasion of a "Large North American Country". Most of central and south America support their viewpoint thanks entirely to Persian largesse.
The American diplomats and government have been hard at work trying to secure a deal which would see the economic sanctions lifted. It is hailed as a massive victory for the US, while Persian and Russian hardliners scream, vocalizing the desire to turn America into a failed state under the direction of a bunch of drunk Indians, rather than keep dealing with a bunch of religious fanatics in Cowboy Boots, etc, etc.

Now imagine if two Persian military shallow water craft of Swedish manufacture were to end up being captured near Trumbo Point, FL, claiming they had mechanical issues or somehow got lost going from Cuba to Mexico.

Would this have played out any different with the shoes on the other feet?
I think some perspective would be nice for a change.

Sounds like he's trying to sell a new military contract.

"What this country needs is a short, victorious war to stem the tide of revolution." V.K. Plehve

Sooner or later, they always come back around to the notion of a winnable war.

Yes, blaring Korean pop music Noriega style is definitely the solution.

"American special forces with and without boots"
*snort*
Truly, they did not specify any other type of footwear.
I can just imagine Gen Thomas cutting orders which explicitly prohibit the use of certain categories of footwear.

Also, would this mean there's a govt contract out there to provide tactical socks and sandals?

It's like fast food marketing.
"Try the brand new tasty Government Product!"
Product falls flat. Remaining stock is chopped, formed, extruded, drowned in barbecue sauce, repackaged and resold with a snazzy new marketing scheme:
"You'll love the brand new tasty Government Product!"
*cue hipster clown*

Hoist by their own petard, Wall Street is gnashing its teeth and wailing as contract after contract is signed for Iran's business while they helplessly watch from behind their self constructed cage.

If this is a serious change in policy, then it's a step in the right direction.
If it's an attempt at putting a pacifier in Russia's mouth to buy time, then I doubt it will work.

Depending upon which missile was used, they have a margin of error that is 150m or less. The fragments are lethal to at least 200m. I've also read that several Academi employees were present at the site.

Justin wrote "How is it possible that some people in high positions want to ally with the very same barbarians who murdered over 3,000 people on September 11, 2001?"

They are the very same barbarians, that's why.
