We used to have an Arabian as well, and we had to tranquilize him for a few days either side of the fourth, every year. Poor thing. He absolutely couldn't handle the noise, but luckily the tranquilizer worked pretty well. I'm so sorry for this horse owner here.

On a side note, fireworks are illegal here in LFP, yet it sounds like a war zone out there. I have to get up super early for work in the morning. Which begs the question...why isn't it the day AFTER the fourth we get off?

I also don't get why we celebrate our country's freedom, and the sacrifices of our soldiers, by risking sending many of them into panic attacks by simulating a freaking firefight outside.

The article says "the courts" returned the children to the parents. CPS may not have even recommended it. When the court orders it, CPS has no choice.

CPS can't just remove children, they need judicial approval. I can only imagine the outcry if CPS didn't have to go through a process prior to removing kids...everyone would complain about how out of control CPS is and how CPS needs checks and balances. Unfortunately, sometimes those checks and balances slow things down considerably, but they are there for everyone's protection.

I don't understand why so many people feel the need to take their dog(s) with them everywhere. The parking lot outside my local grocery store always has a ton of dogs in it. And I've seen a lot of people tie up their dog outside of Starbucks and then go drink coffee and read the newspaper inside. Leave the poor dog at home, people!!

I think if a few extra dollars is such an issue, you probably shouldn't be buying alcohol to begin with. And don't tell me I didn't read the fine print. A big part of voting is weighing cost and benefit, or should be, anyway, and that's what I did.
