That's not true. The Israeli right wing who advocate harsh measures against Palestine are driven by nationalism, not Judaism.

I can't believe the comments I'm reading here. Are you people defending China's right to persecute Muslims? You call yourself Malaysians?

YB Yeo is right in pointing out Putrajaya's hypocrisy. They claim to be defenders of Islam, but they stay quiet when their favoured trade partner China tramples on their Muslim citizens' rights.

No, we are not perfect in how we treat our minorities, but why should that oblige us to remain silent? We are not perfect, but we will be worse if we do not speak up against injustice wherever we see it. In this case, the injustice of Putrajaya's hypocrisy.

It's obvious that TMI's reader base is largely non-Muslim. It's disappointing to see that a large number of them are also Islamophobes.

With absolutely no evidence to suggest it, you are accusing a sexual assault victim of being a prostitute?

I would also recommend that you comment on TMI's BM articles, and to write your comments in BM. The English-speaking population in Malaysia is small, and the best way to reach the whole nation is to speak in BM.

You'll also improve your command of BM, which is always a good thing.

I think Hannah Yeoh did the right thing. It's clear a lot of people want hudud, which means it is in the public's interest. And allowing a debate on hudud is a long way off from implementing hudud.

Tunku Abdul Rahman was no doubt a great man, and his greatness is sorely missed in our country today. But let's not forget that Tunku himself represented a poorer path that our history took. What Tun Abdul Razak did to him, he himself did to Jaafar Onn, the founder of Umno. Even before Merdeka, Jaafar Onn wanted to open up membership of Umno to all races.

THAT was the shining path that we didn't take.

Allow me to teach you the concept of "false equivalency". And to ensure the lesson hits home, I shall paraphrase your own words:

"It was wrong of me to steal your money and beat you up and slap your wife. But let me ask you this - is it right for you to say nasty things about me? Of course we know that I am a thief and a thug, but that still does *NOT* give you any justification for calling me names."

If I were YB Rayer, this is what I would have said:

"I apologize for saying 'Umno celaka'. It was unprofessional and uncalled for and I will try my best not to lose my temper again.

"But I will not apologize to the thugs who committed violence against this assembly. I will withdraw my statement of 'Umno celaka', but I will gladly say 'celaka' to those hooligans.

"And I will NOT be apologizing for THAT statement. If they're not happy, they are welcome to try rioting again."
