yes that's what it says both in iTunes and in my iPhone that i need to insert a supported carrier sim to activate iPhone again. Yes my firmware version is now on 4.0 and ur right i should have said NO to update my iPhone to 4. my mistake...I thought in reading post and comments here like with yours and the guy patrick that u ran redsnow and even without the original sim it would still work... U have mention bout if i had saved my blobs from 3.x.x,what is that?

hello everyone. Having trouble with my iPhone3Gs. I just updated my itunes to latest version 9.2 and it also asked to update my iPhone to 4 but it turned out to "emergency phone". Both iTunes and my iPhone asking the original sim but eventually i dont have that sim anymore coz this phone was just given to me and I'm not in the US to be able to get a supported carrier sim. Can anyone help me pls...

having thesame problems, i have iphone 3Gs and i updated tha latest version of itunes and it asked me to update my iphone to 4. my iphone turned out to emergency phone and itunes asking for the original sim or valid sim but i dont have it anymore.
