I'll be in Santa Ana, CA for the TEA Party there - and am looking forward to seeing thousands in attendance -- we had a preview in Fullerton just a few weeks ago when 15,000 people showed up and clogged the streets and freeways for miles around. My husband and I witnessed this and were amazed and proud of our citizens from both LA and Orange Counties who came. What was extremely frustrating though, was the lack of coverage from most of the media outlets for such a major event! They cover a couple of hundred people protesting something or other but not the 15,000 protesting our over-taxation in California. Well, one more chance. It remains to be seen what coverage we'll get. Surely, they cannot ignore us forever. Let's make some noise!!!
reading so many comments about the dishonorable despicable name change of the Freedom Tower makes me so sad. it's a new wound to the hearts of those who lost loved ones on that awful day. were they even contacted by the Port Authority before this was decided? is it a final decision? do they even care?
i believe they should be sent back to their home countries regardless. who's to say they would be safer in the u.s. there are people here who would target the detainees just as quickly as in the middle east. especially other muslims who are afraid of whatever the detainees said to their interrogators while in custody at gitmo. wherever they are sent, the citizens of the u.s. do not owe these people a living or special protection. like it was said earlier they were arrested because they were connected to known terrorists in their home countries. they were not innocent bystanders. there are just too many risks to having them settle here.
