Let's not dance in the streets quite yet. The American Left is like the AIDS virus - they can be beaten back, but they bide their time, re-inventing themselves in new forms; hi-jacking our DNA and endlessly, endlessly replicating.

Look at what has happened since Britain has banned handguns. Their violent-crime rate has skyrocketed, far surpassing that in the US. The prevelant mode of crime in Britain now is home invasion by criminals armed with knives and blunt instruments. Same in Australia.

I've always HATED it when politicians...especially including Republicans - talked about upholding the rights of hunters and sportsmen. That's not what the 2nd Amendment is about. The battles at Lexington and Concord were a race by the Minutemen to keep the Redcoats from seizing their armories. Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Castro and the Turks who committed the Armenian Genocide knew what gun control was really about. So does Obama. And Elena Kagan.

He doesn't know who - or what - Anderson Cooper is.

Did Hinckley have a concealed carry permit when he shot Reagan? God, I despise Sarah Brady and the Brady Campaign.

I own handguns, but can't get a CC permit in California. Where am I more likely to need to defend myself? In a road-rage incident or in my 20th-floor doorman condo? Where is my wife more likely to need to defend herself? In a parking lot on her way to her SUV or in our condo?

Sort of off-topic, but before the Armenian Genocide began in earnest, the Turks first confiscated firearms from every Armenian home. Their confiscation tactics were so brutal (torture), that Armenians paid outrageous sums to buy antiquated firearms from their Turkish neighbors just so they would have something to surrender when the troops came knocking.

But of course it's not hateful at all for you to refer to decent citizens who peacefully seek redress of grievances by an obscene term which implies that one enjoys close facial contact with a scrotum.

And by the way, conservatives donate more money to charities, by a factor of 3, than progressives. Look it up, hypocrite.

What did you expect? The "deficit panel" is composed of retired Beltway elites, including carefully-selected RINO ex-Senators. They're all quite wealthy by now and have the best tax firewalls money can buy. Most of them are quite elderly, so they never expect to pay the taxes they propose for others. These are people like Pete Petersen, whose WSJ column the other day basically said, "Stop whining and 'pull the wagon'". But in the same breath, he said that we have to "protect" lower earners (meaning the 53% who pay no income taxes).. There's no one as eager to tax the not-very-rich than the very rich.

I wish someone would look more closely into her claims that her father was murdered by a "white man" who was never brought to justice and that crosses were burned on her lawn. It smacks of Bill Clinton's fantasies about remembering black churches burning throughout the South.

Not to worry...the White House will have one of their media coaches hold Sherrod's hand while she learns to repeat their talking points as though butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. She's a dim-witted nobody who is now addicted to celebrity - we haven't heard the last of her.
