Sure it's a legal right for a district to discipline students on there way to school. I wont argue with that. They can discipline a student out of school as well. Many recent cases of students harrassing other students and teachers through Facebook etc, that both the school and the law got involved with. The problem is your confusing responsibility with "legal right". It's NOT the schools responsiblity to provide your child safe passage to school. You as the parent are 100% responsible for this.

Yaaaa, ok I'm whining about people taking responsibility for their own childsrens lives...I admit it.

Ya Ya Ya, that's original :)..... Check out our website at www.kumsheen.com. I wouldn't advise being one of my customers as I may drown you in the river for that comment. :) Kidding.

The word Kumsheen originated from the Native American Nlaka’pamux tribe. It means the joining of great waters. We call the business Kumsheen because the Thompson and Fraser rivers combine near our river rafting resort.

You got a sick mind mister. :)

Oh, so lets use sex offenders as an excuse to bus your children a few blocks now. It's not the schools responsibility to protect your children when they're not at school. Typical to try to put the responsibility on the school district, so you can blame them for YOUR failings. You as a parent are soley responsible for your child.....you and nobody else. Try raising your children in the inner city sometime. They have no school bus transportation...they have to rely on walking, public buses, and subways, and there are plenty of sex offenders around each corner.

BTW...I can also think of several recent stories where bus drivers have molested children too.

This is really good news for Microsoft. Steve Jobs really is/was/will always be the heart and soul of Apple.

Now if we could just get rid of that idiot Steve Ballmer and bring their heart and soul back to Microsoft, maybe they could put out a decent tablet or phone. Microsoft has totally lacked any real vision since Bill left.....they've just been reactive instead of proactive. Bill, let Bono and Melinda save the world....you get your arse back to the Redmond campus this instant!

1. If you really walk three miles to school, then here's a hint, walk a quarter mile in the opposite direction and I'm sure you'll find a bus stop since the school district only restricted bus service one mile away. From the sound of it, you're right on that line, so you should be close to a bus stop that isn't in the restricted zone.
2. The fact that your car is broken down is not the school disctricts problem.
3. The fact that you and your wife chose to have children later on in life, was your decsion, not the school districts.

Short Version: Quit your whining and find a solution for yourself!!!! I'm so sick of people relying on the government to do everything for them. It's time to start acting like Americans again, and take responsibility for ourselves people!

I know that there are plenty of cases out there where guys are mugged when they had knives and/or guns on their person. They were simply overpowered by physical strength, and not prepared. Unless you have time to react, your knife or gun isn't going to do you much good. So yes, I stick to my previous statement and will say that it's unlikely that she was able to simply grab a knife and stab this guy. The main motive behind rape is control of another person..not likely that she would have had the opportunity to do what she did, but again, it's not impossible either.

Well hey SGTJAY...if you really want to waste time and argue about whether or not rapists in general are intelligent, that's your prerogative. I for one think that people that commit these sex crimes, are not the most intelligent. I certainly could be wrong by that statement, but if you feel like it's worth your time trying to defend the general IQ level of these people, then go right ahead.

"I do know that not all possible information is in the story". Well if you know this, then why did you bother asking me anything in the first place?? Seems we both feel the same way, but you just feeling a bit combative today? Yes,, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe...we don't know the details do we? It's because the story is lacking information.

Thanks for making my point.

Well for one, if she's being physically attacked it's unlikely that she would have been able to pull out a knife and stab this guy. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's unlikely. Maybe she's a big strong gal that can handle herself well, and the alleged rapist is just a weak punk, but then you would have thought that he wouldn't have messed with her in the first place. Then again, these people aren't the most intelligent are they? I just think there's more to this story.

Yes, go right ahead and thumb me down for asking questions. How dare I question KOMO!!

I don't take anything at face value.....even if it's a story with a good ending. Seems a lot of you do though.

They're not publishing it now. It's was published in March 2010 and has been available ever since. For whatever reason, it's now showing in the popular stories. The most popular list is based on how many hits any one story receives. So the question is why did it get hit so many times after the story has been buried so long? Probably someone just bored that's going out and hitting the same KOMO link 10's of thousands of times.
