"And something we continually stress to our booth officials is there must be indisputable video evidence to overturn a call. Sometimes, we spent far too long looking to reverse the call. And we're asked, 'If you spend two minutes debating a call then how can it be indisputable if you reverse it?'
That quote just about says it all about the TD pass James caught in the back of the end zone. How does a booth official reverse an on-field call after taking that long to come up with "indisputable video evidence?"

The helmet problem seems to be somewhat universal. I'm assuming there has been some kind of design change that wasn't properly researched. There seem to be helmets lying around in just about every game I watch.

Did anyone hear that Boise State's Venable was suspended for a whole half against New Mexico State? The WAC Commisioner said Venable should have been flagged for a flagrant foul and ejected from the game. He announced a one-game suspension, which was appealed by Boise State, resulting in a half-game suspension by decision of the WAC *un*sportsmanship committee. Just another license for this kind of behavior. No wonder he does the same thing over and over.

"First off, my view of the hit is it was inadvertent. Rodgers tried to block low and Venable went low to take on the block."
Please Cliff, watch the YouTube clip above from 1:29 t0 1:31 and tell me it was inadvertent. What is your definition of blocking low? James was simply in a high crouch, preparing for contact, when Venable put his head down and "speared" him plain and simple.

Cliff, It is the Athletic Department. It's all about having the correct venue to be able to audio & video record without the unbelievable background noise. The audio is by far the main culprit.

As Beaverheart said, "Just a little knowledge of audio equipment and we could hear what they are saying." Either a different mike set-up or an isolated interview spot, such as all pro sports use for post game interviews, would work. Anyone ever hear of a camera tripod, or something set up, as in a designated interview spot. With all due respect, keep the MTV stuff. I'm more interested in at least a minimum of professionalism. I'm not trying to be personally critical, but I believe such should be expected from the Athletic Department.

Hi TaborDenizen,
Because of a fraudulent civil law suit brought by Mary Volm against the Mr. Johnson in posts #81-85, any character references and information you might be willing to provide could potentially be extremely helpful in that case.

Even though a jury unanimously found Mr. Johnson to be innocent on all three charges, there remains a yet-to-be-determined justice for all that goes along with any accusation. How does a wrongfully-accused person regain their reputation, their lost time and expenses to defend themselves, and their loss of business over a period of time? Everyone hears about the charges, but almost no one hears that the charges were untrue. Ask anyone who is charged with, and found innocent of any crime. They are going to live a changed life simply because of the charges themselves.

Hopefully, Ms. Volm, the Portland police, and the Portland DA's office will be made to suffer some of the consequences of their own criminal actions!!!

LOOKS LIKE MAYBE SOME OF IT IS TAKING PLACE NOW!

So, now we have Ms. Volm, the Portland Police Bureau, and the Portland DA's office who were all derelict in their duties. Ms. Volm filed a false Police report, and completely perjured herself in attempting to cover up her own outrageous behavior. The Portland police officers failed to take action on Mr. Johnson's citizen's arrest request. The Portland DA's office likewise failed to act on the citizen's arrest request, and proceeded to bring a charge against Mr. Johnson just because a city employee was "allegedly" victimized. It appears the Portland Police quickly determined that a city employee, such as Ms. Volm, could hardly be guilty of anything. That must mean that the limo driver is guilty of something. (never mind his attempt to inform them that he was in the process of making a citizen's arrest, and their obligation to process that)
After this little fiasco was over, Mr. Johnson was charged by the DA with menacing, harassment, and disorderly conduct (because his vehicle was in the intersection, and the Police officers would not allow him to move it).
In the end however, justice did prevail. On March 31, 2009, a jury unanimously found Mr. Johnson to be innocent of all three charges. As a diligent investigator discovered, there were other witnesses to the events who completely refuted Ms. Volm's testimony about the incident, testifying that they had seen her get off the moped and violently kick the side of the limo.
