I think this issue about the mocking of the prophet Muhammad is being blown out of proportion. The show South Park is notorious for making fun of everything, from actors to religion, and for people to take it this seriously is ridiculous. Comedy Central censoring the episode is also ridiculous, because they make fun of christianity and judaism too but they aren't censored. To censor this episode because it is making fun of Islam is offensive, what makes their religion any better than other peoples. I can understand people being upset with the show and how they are mocking their religion, but those people do not need to watch the show. The show makes fun of a lot of sensitive issues and none of them are censored, but as soon as Muhammad comes into it they censor the show. That is one of the big things I disagree with, if you make fun of all those things, then turn around and censor one that implies that the censored subject is more important than all the others, which is absolute bullshit. If they are going to censor insults to the Islam religion, than the channel should censor all the religious insults put into the show. The fact that they are treating Islam more important than any other religion is insulting all the people that belong to the other religions. I also think that the people that made this issue a big deal should relax, because they are blowing the subject way out of proportion.

The whole thing about the creators of the show being warned about mocking the religion of Islam is also ridiculous. I don't care what they say about the comments and how it should be taken as a threat. When someone suggests the possibility of you being murdered, because you made fun of something in a show that makes fun of everything, then I would consider that a threat. I am not saying that all Islam is ridiculous, but I am saying that the radical sects of Islam that threaten the creators of a cartoon because they made fun of their religious leader are acting exactly as most non-islamic people see them as. If they want to be taken seriously then they need to stop making death threats as a way to stick up for their religion. The fact that they made “threats” to the creators with a graphic picture of van gogh, makes me personally wish that the creators keep making the show the way they are. I understand that it is only the radical groups of Islam that start these issues, but it makes me angry that everytime Islam is made fun of it is blown out of proportion. This is a more minor case of the cartoon making fun of Muhammad in Europe that started riots and that man also received death threats. That a relatively minor thing makes this big of a deal is not right. This issue proves that relations between Islam and the western world are still a sensitive area.

I actually saw the news story about this before it was posted on this website about a week ago. I was both frightened and extremely concerned. This game is exactly what our world does NOT need. It is both really disgusting and disturbing. I can not help but feel very frightened for any women who comes in contact with the creators of this game. Because who ever came up with the concept of this game has something terribly wrong going on inside their head. It actually makes it worse that Microsoft hasn't put through a patch that would block the game from their personal computers. Also the Japanese government should definitely doing something to effectively ban this game and any others of its kind. The world should see this as a warning sign of Japan's government being weak when it comes to promoting against rape.
With the release of this video game, it makes rape seem like something that's normal or even funny. This is the kind of video game, that if it got into the hands of children, would actually give them the motivation to do so. Rape is a serious crime and is despicable, it should never be “simulated” as a funny or normal thing. It is undoubtedly one of the worst crimes a person can commit.
Maybe the Japanese should open programs that condemn rape. Put ideas into the children that should be there. However, the government will not, they will not ban this video game, they will not do anything to stop it. Anyone who made an effort to make this video game possible should be watched by the authorities for their potential to rape.
The sad thing is is that men and maybe even some women would find this game interesting and even funny. So it could gain some sort of popularity with them. Now I do not believe in censorship, but this is one piece of crap that should be completely banned.
However, I do not agree with Sam's claim that video games involving shooting really affect children in a profound way. There is a very small percentage, but not enough to outweigh the benefits. Video games actually stimulate brain activity and are sometimes used in the training of our soldiers. Now, one might say that why not read a book to stimulate the brain, but kids these days don't like to read and simply saying to read a book will not make them do it. Kids love video games, they always will, well at least until there is something bigger and better. Adults don't understand the concept that children can think for themselves, and they know that these situations are not real.

Welfare can be considered a good and bad thing. It actually depends on the person receiving the welfare. Welfare was originally designed to help people in troubled times, but it was not meant to be something long term or permanent. People that work to get out of welfare are using it the right way, they are not taking advantage of the system. However, people who use it to their advantage, people who give little or no effort to get out of welfare, are the people who should be limited and maybe even cut off. Until they can prove that they are actually trying to better their lives with the aid of welfare, not take advantage of it, then it should be limited or cut off.

Some things I DO have in mind to fix this problem are as follows. First, welfare should be based on a system of effort. Weekly or monthly checks should be made on the individuals receiving welfare. If they are making an effort to find or keep a job, then they should have a maintained or increasing welfare until they qualify to leave the welfare system. However, if their progress digresses and they start to take advantage by quitting their job or some other factor, then their welfare should decrease. Of course there are exceptions to these rules. Such as disabilities, medical reasons, car accidents, etc.

By doing this, the government would have a hard stance, and make it clear there would be no more free handouts. While at the same time, welfare is still there to help out individuals who really need it and actually deserve it. If people really deserve it, they will work to get out of it and be on their own, the real purpose of welfare. If not, individuals will have to deal with the consequences. People would eventually learn to better themselves and welfare would become a true benefit to society, not something that brings it down in some aspects.

Future generations would learn from their parents' mistakes. Children would become more motivated to better their lives, get jobs, go to school, and in general get off their ass to make an effort. The problems associated with welfare would be eliminated for the most part and the regular citizen wouldn't be paying for other people to sit around and reap the benefits of the money that we have earned through work and sacrifice.

Finally, welfare is not a bad thing, I'm not saying that at all. If anything welfare is one thing that should be kept to help people that really need, to help people that have fallen on hard times. Until the system is fixed however, I can not really support it.

This school district in Mississippi is a disgrace. The fact that they would openly discriminate against homosexuals is disgusting. We are not in the 19th or 20th centuries anymore, I would not be surprised if this school district still had racist tendencies. Although I would not doubt it considering southern states' history, especially Mississippi. Any of the people that had a factor in this decision should be fired because of discrimination.

What people fail to realize is that some of the most powerful people that have ever lived were actually bisexual or homosexual. One prime example is Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great was one of the best and smartest military practitioners of all time. Homosexuals have been around forever. There hasn't been a time in human history when every single person was heterosexual. It is pretty pathetic that the human race still hasn't accepted homosexuals into normal human society.

As being a former homophobe, yes I admit it, I can safely say that I was ignorant and completely wrong. There is no possible way one can justify discrimination against homosexuals. The Bible could even be considered irrelevant in this issue. Considering I went to Catholic school from K through 12, I would know. They taught us to not always take the Bible literally. Yes, this came out of a priest's mouth.

I live in a household of staunch republicans, my father being the most extreme. I have grown up being brainwashed into thinking homosexuals were evil and would go straight to hell. Not until I reached junior year of high school did my mind begin to open up. I could finally see that through scientific evidence, homosexuals are born like every other human being. They are born homosexuals, it is not a choice, they cannot help it. So why should we discriminate because they have a sexual attraction to another human being, that just happens to be the same sex. It is just as disgusting as discriminating against other races.

People from the south, for the most part, not all, are very very close-minded. Would it really hurt them physically if they saw two females or two males at the prom; dancing and enjoying themselves, not hurting anyone. I guess their brains are not mature enough to handle something a little bit different. Hopefully one day parents won't teach their children such ignorant thoughts. One day this may never be an issue, but that won't happen until people like this can finally see that THEY are actually the evil ones.

I completely agree that the issue is always between whites and blacks. It is inevitable considering most people think of whites vs. blacks when it comes to racism. Though I agree that this is usually the case when discussing race, I do not believe that it is right or fair. Now don't get me wrong, I see the hardships and the troubles that black people are going through. But, there is racism against all races.

Racial profiling in airport security is a HUGE problem and must be addressed. The facts must be presented; a lot of terrorists that would enter a plane are not going to be Arab. Al-Queda and other terrorist groups are recruiting people of different races in order to get through airport security. For example: the failed jet bomb terrorist about a month ago was of African decent. There are terrorists all over the world in multiple races. Targeting one group of people in airport security is both stupid and racist.

There are also issues with Hispanic people. Due to illegal immigration, there is a lot of discrimination against Hispanics, especially in the northern states. Conservatives don't like the fact that there have been Spanish translations on labels. Some businesses are going as far as to discriminate against Spanish speaking people, refusing to serve them if they don't speak English. There is also a racial slur in sorts right now, calling all Hispanic people “Mexicans” when clearly a lot of them are not of Mexican decent.

Asian Americans are also experiencing racism on their part. Many people perceive any person with Asian eyes as to be either Chinese or Japanese. More common it is Chinese. This perception is TOTALLY wrong and racist. People are ignorant to the fact that there are many Asian countries, not just China and Japan.

All of these issues and more are important. Some races I didn't even cover. Such as Native Americans, Asians, Indians, and other racial groups. I know there are a lot of problems for African Americans, and there is racism towards white people. But there are many other issues that are usually not addressed.

After watching this video, I was both confused and surprised. I had no idea that racism was so prevalent in Europe. If this is racism for Europe then they have a lot of work to do to improve this. This makes racism in the United States look like candy and ice cream.

The European Union needs to do something about this. Racism should not be tolerated like this, and yet, people are allowed to bring banners and signs that say these sorts of things in the stadiums?! That is ridiculous.

The People of Europe need to wake up and join the 21st century.
