Either society goes one way or another when dealing with distracted drivers... create a traffic gestapo to stamp out any and all talking on the phone, texting, emailing, eating/drinking, talking with passengers, talking or yelling at your kids, putting makeup on, reading a newspaper, tinkering with the radio, and a thousand other things that can lead to a driver being distracted
OR
we can impose stiffer fines and harsher punishment to an INDIVIDUAL when they are responsible for an accident.
I am for retaining my civil liberties and am accepting of 'taking it in the shorts' if my irresponsibility is the cause of an accident. Once you allow personal freedoms to be stripped away, you will never get them back.
