Thank you very much for the explanation! ;) Just tried it and it just...worked...

I just wanted to be absolutely sure that nothing will happen to the BB...

Thanks again,

Thanks for your answer but as I wrote in the beginning of my post, I already created a 4.2.1 IPSW with BB 05.13.04 which is running fine on my 3G... the tethered/untethered aspect is only valid for the 3GS's and iPhone4...

If I remember correctly, former versions of redsnow installed the BB of the given FW, which obviously would be very bad in my situation because I don't want to install the BB Version from the stock FW and neither the iPad BB...05.13.04 is running fine..

The reason I want to use SAM is because I want to increase battery life.

So again: Is it possible to use redsnow to deactivate my iPhone with the mentioned custom IPSW but pointing redsnow to the Stock 4.2.1 IPSW?

Hi There...
I have an iPhone 3G and created a custom 4.2.1 IPSW with BB 05.13.04...So far everthing works..

Now I wanted to use sbingners SAM but I wonder how / if I can deactivate the phone with redsnow (0.9.6b6)...

Will redsnow update my BB to the stock version if I use it? That would be very bad, because I intend to stay on BB 05.13.04 and don't want to get i a situation where I have to update to the iPad BB Version...

I tried to give redsnow the custom IPSW but that results in an error stating that redsnow is unable to recognize the IPSW
...or is it sufficient to use the "DeActivate" button inside the SAMPrefs?

Anyone who could clarify this a little bit?

Thanks,
kampfschaf

No problems with blacksn0w here...installed pushfix for fixing the youtube issue (with disabled push functionality because of problems with the "single phone-id all over the world problem). everythings fine with the commucation part...I have to admit that my Springboard crashes from time to time, but I have the feeling, that this has something to do with winterboard or five icon dock and not with blacksn0w...

what didn't work? the push stuff or the youtube stuff? The push issues with pushfix are well documented...

correct...I can confirm that this fixes the youtube problem...but you get the push-problem as well...same certs used at every iphone, meaning everyone gets everyones push-messages

Ok...did a little research about the youtube thing...hacktivated phones miss the correct certificates needed for the youtube function...these certs are generated when activating the phone via itunes... a fix for this is using the pushfix app from cydia (repo: cydia.iphoneil.net) but this produces the problems with the push services as well...since pushfix users get the same certificates installed, they are receiving other people's push notifications and the other people (with the same certs) receive your push-notes as well... (i.e. facebook, IM+, etc...) hmm...
