Microsoft Surface is a currently available product. You can get a 40" Samsung SUR40 unit for about $8500.

Given that I fuel them on a regular basis, I can say that they fly just fine on 100LL same as any other piston engined aircraft.

There is a refinery that does a special run of 145LL once a year for the Reno air races. That is the only time 145LL is available.

This has been done before. There were long legal battles to keep a KKK group from adopting a stretch of highway in the past. The courts ruled that there was no legal grounds for not allowing them to. The Missouri legislature responded by renaming the part of I-55 the Rosa Parks Memorial Highway.

145 is not available anymore. The best you get is 100LL.

No, the airlines are rightfully asking people to all pay the same. If you do not have children you pay extra for some seats. If you want you child to sit in that same seat, you pay extra. People should not get freebies just because they chose to have children.

They could also charge the same fares they used to. People did not travel with their families often because of the expense. People need to realize that the greyhound of the skies mentality that has developed with modern air travel is not a sustainable business model. If you do not want extra fees, choose one of the airlines that does not have them (Southwest) but be prepared for the drawbacks that come with them. You do not get assigned seats, you do not get guarantees that your family can all sit together, and flights are often over booked to make sure they are all full. You do not get to have all of the amenities without the additional expense.

You chose to have children. They are not asking you to pay extra to have your children fly. They are asking you to pay the same as anyone else if you want specific seats. You can elect to put all of your family in middle seats away from exit rows and not pay a dime more. Why should you be allowed to avoid paying extra for an isle, window, or exit row seat just because you have a child?

In an enterprise solution you use a volume snapshot to create a backup volume and then stream that off to tape. If you take a look at the SAN offerings from NetApp or EMC you will see that one of the most touted features is the ability to almost instantly create copes of data for just that purpose. It does not matter that it takes 12 hours to write the data out to tape. It is not the live set of data. With tape backup you assume some amount of data loss. There are ways to keep the amount very small, but as in all things you end up finding a balance between cost and acceptable risk.

You run backups to tape because it is very difficult to have an off site storage solution for disk media. All major companies still use tape every day and it is sent off to third party companies like Iron Mountain or Data Site for safe keeping.

I am sorry that the people have chosen to travel with their children. As someone who has elected not to have children it gets old seeing people with children get special treatment because they chose to procreate. There are costs associated with having kids. Additional travel expenses are just one of them.
