I say be brave...be original. We just don't need another film that uses an already tried and true plot line or character arc no matter what kind of spin they put on it. You can use Klingons, use Romulans... hell have the Klingons and Romulans get into a galactic war and beat the living shit out of each other and the Enterprise and the Federation try to stay out of it and yet get pulled in. Hell, make subtle political or social statements like Roddenberry and the crew did in TOS that will go way over an average audience member's head but reaches out to those keeping their eyes open (critics and real Trekkies who don't live in their mother's basement love that shit). BUT have somebody really evil pulling the strings--a new BIG BAD (and not someone with Godlike powers)...someone like, dare I say it, a Ben Linus of the Star Trek universe. Yeah, okay...cast Michael Emerson. There I said it. I'll shut up now.
I absolutely LOVED the first "20th Century Boys" film which came out in December. I watched it in March on DVD and though it was brilliant. I went out and bought all the manga and have been read through volume one. I can't wait to see the second and third films and I for one think that what Toho is doing is great. This is one story that where prior knowledge of what's going to happen would kill it. I have deliberately refused to watch the subsequent trailers for the next two films because of this. No spoilers for this! It would kill it!
Aronofsky doesn't need "Robocop" or any other remake for that matter. Hopefully this will stay in development hell and then go away...
PIXAR, Pete Docter, and everyone else involved with this film could have pulled off this plot point. I think this could have worked brilliantly and made an already brilliant film that much more special.
Yeah, I sing the fucking "Internationale" every time I pillage from demonoid. What a douchebag is right!
Damn! This is pretty cool! I hope this works out...
He'll be back, probably in the last episode, but I think this is pretty much a lock now. The DS ring and Jacob giving Hurley the guitar saying that it wasn't his is pretty much a give away. Of course, this is LOST and anything can happen.
You know I haven't been a big fan of this series, but I watched casually this season and all of the finale. And I've just got one thing to say with anyone who was disappointed with the finale---Are you PEOPLE OUT OF YOUR MINDS? That was brilliant! Sheer fucking brilliance. Ranks right up there with the Fringe finale and just a little below the Lost one. I just watched seasons one and two all the way through this week and now consider myself a fan of this show. It's not about God or Satan. That's bullshit. Lucifier ex machina--Good God who the fuck came up with that shit. Walt made the meth that caused this shit to happen. He's responsible. Everything else is blatant metaphor or karmic retribution.
I would prefer to see this film in IMAX 3D just for the massive screen but if they have to shorten this film to make it fit that format, I say don't do it. I would rather see this film in 2D with a 35 mm print than see it shortened. Hell, I want a three hour plus science fiction opus. And if it sucks (which I highly doubt) I'll never revisit it. I'm glad Cameron scares the shit out of Fox and Rothman. I just wish there were more filmmakers out there like him.
Another remake we just don't need.
