We thought we were going to see a "kids" movie. It is about a boy who is having a tough time dealing with life...nothing new or surprising there. He eventually ran away to a place "Where the Wild Ones Are" and leaned he was not alone in the world, he learned, with the help of the wild ones how to cope...not a bad thing. However, my grandchildren, 6 and 8 did not understand and their mom and I soon realized this was an adult movie to helpgrown-ups understand how really difficult life is for kids in our world. Not a bad thing BUT the movie is advertised as a kids movie. My grandson said, "I would get my butt kicked if I acted like that." ...my granddaughter..."Is it OK to throw dirt at people and jump on each other?" Their mom and I spent our lunch talking about why it is not OK to act like the characters in the movie...the good stuff was way above their understanding...good movie...for adults who want to understand how rough life is out there for kids and how very frustrated they get with us adults when we live above them.
