Jesus whiped the crooked merchants, scolded those that followed him just to be fed, and even preached against divorce. Apparently your catholic upbringing didn't include actually reading the new teastemant. The problem with the church today isn't that they are to critical. It is that the church doesn't hardly stand for anything anymore. If the church ( you brought it up) doesn't stand up for morality what does it stand for ?? What should discrimination against pedophiles be illegal?? What about rapist?? It would be bigoted to discriminate against child rapist.
If I own a duplex and I don't want to condone a gay couple renting my property next to my family that should be my choice. I can say no pets, no waterbeds,no smokers but it should be illegal for me to chose not to share a property with a gay couple? If a Christian college doesn't want openly gay people in the dorms that is their business.
3 beers in one hour will give the average 150 lb man a blood alcohol content of around .1 This cop was around 190-195 lbs so it would require more like 4 in one hour. 2 beers would give him a BAC of around .05 which I beleive is still under the legal limit. I hung around with him a little maybe 10 years ago or so and the laws were not as strict as they are now and certainly 2 beers was not illegal then. Stats are from bartender training required at a bar I worked at back then.
I went to the web site of the company contracted to operate the waste to energy facility ( covanta kent). According to their web site the facility produces up to 18 megawatts of electricity and/or up to 116,000 lbs/hr of exported steam. The steam heats downtown buildings through a " 7 mile" network of tunnels. As a teenager I explored (without permission) large tunnels with steam pipes in them. Access was easy. There are many steel grates in downtown sidewalks and creative use of a few screwdrivers can pick the rectangular lock. All of these tunnels origionated at the plant on Monroe and Fulton. The steam from the incinerator is sent to that plant and then distributed from there. I did not realize the waste to energy plant also produced electricity. As for the geography lesson, it is a bit hard to miss the gigantic smoke stack of the incinerator. The distribution facility is actualy 2 buildings across Fulton from the BOB. The alley in between has huge rooms under it for storage of salt for water softing in the steam etc.. P.S. The electric network for dowtown is next to these buildings also.
For the record Mi truth in sentencing law means he has to serve a minimum percentage of his sentence. I believe 80%. 80 % of 15 ( state sentence) is 12 years. He still should have been given life or at least make him serve his state and federal sentences cosecutive.
I have known some really faithful cops. One who himself would only have 2 beers if he were driving for instance. He said if he had more and drove he would be a hypocrite even if his fellow officers gave him a deal. I have known some very bad cops. One who was the 1st one busted in Kent County for the date rape drug when it first became illegal. He was a kentwood cop at the time. etc. Over all , as government becomes more and more tyranical and more and more nanny state laws are passed, the police are less and less the good guys. Clearly there are some bad apples in Muskegon.
Look I have been to the IRS and there is no such thing as a quick trip to the IRS. How long were they left in the car?? Some guardian.
