I'd have to read through the entire book to comment accurately... but, I am concerned with much of the house church movement. I wrote a book titled Covens in the Church that deals with that.

Regarding the issue of being called to a dry church... that's a CRITICAL point that must be discussed. Most people get frustrated in dry churches, in churches that aren't giving them what they want. The problem? The church isn't there for us as much as we are supposed to be there for the church. If it's dry, get to work!

I always tell people in my church, "Don't use the church for your personal edification... don't come to church empty and dry. Come full! Pray continually at home... listen to sermon after sermon online... read, study, grow! THEN, when you get to church... minister! Pour out! Don't look to get, look to give!"

I hear that argument a lot, and I do understand the perspective. However, we have to be careful that we don't disassociate ourselves from those in the greater body. In order for a church to be a church there must be a gathering and governmental leadership.

The primary purpose of the church is not evangelism or connecting with other believers. It's prayer. As apostolic and prophetic leaders are giving direction, the body can contend in unity in intercession for the nations. I believe the IHOP model is so critical. People there understand they the call is to pray... and they do it several hours a day. From there, they can move out as leaders give oversight and rock the world.

Missed it? That's an important principle... there are some who simply have too much to do, God has filled up their plate... that they cannot afford to spend time on tasks that others can better handle.

A lot of people presume it's easy for anybody to lead a church or a ministry in their spare time... that they can easily work a full time job. That's simply not the case.

A problem with the way we 'do church' here in America is that we try to stuff everything in to a 2 hour service, once a week.

When the 24/7 church emerges, we'll be able to have services devoted fully to apostolic teaching, while other times during the week we can see the body functioning in prophecy, worship, etc.

There are many who say they don't like the 'one man show'... but, we have to have services where apostolic leaders have our undivided attention as they transmit key instructions. There will always be leadership... and there should be services where body interaction is less limited, and other services where it's much more active... where it even drives the event.

I'd be curious as to what your method of determining false and true manifestations is.

Right, I agree... I think personalities do play into it quite a bit. No right/wrong in this conversation.

I don't want to sound contrary, as I believe in depth study of scripture is very important... but, if we are in the place of prayer, hearing God... it should be possible to pull a message together quite quickly. If we put a few hours into an outline, we should be able to preach out of it for 3-4 weeks or so.

I'd be very careful when presuming to quote the Holy Spirit. I honestly doubt God would say it the way you shared.

I was at Lakeland, and the presence of God was so overwhelming... absolutely phenomenal.

Great, great points.

After hearing that 1 Tim 3 tells us that nobody that has ever divorced can ever minister again, I posted this on the 'slaughter' site... nobody has responded:

1 Tim 3:3 apparently has also disqualified a lot of people in here, right? If anybody is quarrelsome, even one time, they can never minister again. Right?
