No programs should be allowed to create new Departments in the Government.
House Representatives required to hold Town Hall minimum 1 time every 2 months. Must be on a Weekend when all voters in their districts can attend. Date and Time must be publicly announced 3 weeks prior to the Town Hall.
Senators must Hold Town Halls in Regions of their state at frequency to be determined by formula based on total area of state / 12 and other factors to allow them also to tend to their job in DC.
Set Base Salary for all Congressional Members of $50,000 per year. Year End Bonuses that are voted on by the public Every Year on the same date.
Continuation of my earlier idea re: Oversight Board. Report card isued quarterly on their performance on addressing all Priorities. Report card is drafted by the Oversight Board and voted on by the public before being issued. Report Cards are posted on the internet for all to see and use in their evaluation of which candidate to vote for in future election.
An Oversight Board, elected by the people, and who's job is to do the following: Each Week Congress is locked in their chamber w/ sleeping Cots near. Meals ordered out. Cannot meet with lobbyist during this time. Out of a list of issues voted on by the Public via Internet, Congress Accepts to tackle ONE SPECIFIC TASK. This is the Priority, no matter how long it takes. They are not allowed to leave the Capital until a solution is put forth. While the Board evaluates the plan, Congress moves on to the next priority. If the Board comes back with approval that there is a greater than 75% chance of solving the problem, then Congress formally votes. If less than 75% chance then the board recommends changes, which Congress will reconvene to implement. Must work min 5 days each week min 40 hours and no Vacations. Required that during each session the they cannot leave. Must be present on every issue at all times.
A Relevancy Restriction to All Bills. The bill must be specifically named for its contents, and cannot be broad. Any item not relevant to the bill cannot be included.
Require a Relevancy Test to All Bills, which means that any item in a Bill has to be directly relevant to its purpose. The purpose must be clearly stated and not general in nature. If the item requires some explanation as to why it is relevant to the Bill, and it is not self explanatory, then it cannot be in the Bill.
I believe a more drastic measure is needed. I know this will be a tough pill to swallow for each individual because they have party allegiances, however I think the only way we will start to take back control of this country is to VOTE OUT EVERY INCUMBENT in the 2010 Elections. Then WE COMPLETE THE TASK BY DOING THE SAME IN 2012. The time of Career Politicians, who are truly the root of our problems, must come to an end. Regardless of their party, they have served us all wrong. I feel there is no better way to send them a strong message who they work for. WE MUST MAKE EVERY CONCERTED EFFORT TO DO THIS NO MATTER WHO THE INCUMBENT IS OR WHICH PARTY THEY COME FROM.
I am the Organizer for the Broward County Hold Government Accountable Meetup Group. If you remember the 2000 election, Broward County, together with Palm Beach County and Miami-Dade County were "Ground Zero" for holding up the election of George Bush as President.
However a change is in the air as evidenced by our "We Surround Them" Viewing Party. While the Tri-County Area is primarily Democratic in nature, I had 285 attendees at the Viewing Party and We are leveraging this momentum to grow the entire S. Florida Group.
This is truly a wonderful effort and we will do our best to put this country back on track.
