Your cholesterol probably dropped because you started a healthier diet and lost weight - which is great! =) But factually, cholesterol isn't raised or lowered by carbs and/or sugar. It's just not, sorry!

I do agree with people eating better, 100%. I try not to judge, because hey, you never know what a person's life is like, but man... I see people in the grocery store with carts full of crap. Tons of junk food, Wonder bread, and maybe a tomato. And then I look in my own cart and feel a little better, because it's probably 70% produce, 10% meat, 5% pet food/litter, 10% staples like dry rice, etc., and maybe 5% snacky items, which are still better than what most people are buying. I can't cut much of my carb intake due to dietary restrictions, but what we do have for carbs is good stuff, like whole grains, good rice, and starchy veggies.

Olive, grapeseed, some nut oils? Awesome!

But avoid canola. It's some pretty nasty stuff, thanks to information recently available that it's actually GRAS, because it's almost all genetically modified and often over-processed with nasty things.

Funny that after the whole pink slime debacle, we're finding out that all of these every day foods like canola oil & really common stuff like soy protein isolate (in almost every energy bar) are "generally" recognized as safe.

While it's great to eat healthy and all that... grains and/or sugar haven't got a darn thing to do with your cholesterol levels. I definitely agree people need to live healthier lives and be smarter about food choices, but it's really not *one* thing that contributes to high cholesterol. For a lot of people, it's primarily genetic, or directly tied to a horrible diet of fast food/garbage.

Actually, iceberg lettuce is a pretty common one. I can't eat it, either, unless I want to spend the day in pain and intestinal distress. It's not a good lettuce in terms of nutrition, anyway. =)

Is it the nitrites in the bacon/sausage that gets you? There are some kids that don't have that, but they're hard to find.

So... you have no idea what the book was about. Thank you for making that perfectly clear.

FYI, it's not about kids killing each other for food. What on earth? Where the heck did you get that?

It's a post-apocalyptic America where citizens are treated like animals, and punished once a year for an uprising 74 years earlier. It has absolutely nothing to do with kids killing each other to obtain food, or in a cannibalistic manner. None whatsoever. Nor is it really like LotF, Running Man, or - so commonly assumed - Battle Royale.

You want a comedy, find a comedy. But don't make fun of a flick (or book) simply because you haven't bothered to read it/watch it or even learn what it's about! Talk about ignorance.

So this is kind of an overview of what happened - they were headed N on 405, and the dude in the stolen car exited onto 30th. When this happened, they were on the ramp (looked like onramp back to 405 N), and the dude wound up in the brush somewhere near the school?

I drove past the aftermath of this, and yeah, there were a lot of other cars around - AND it's right next to an elementary school - but I think the shot was fired on offramp or onramp, rather than on 405. But still. RIGHT next to the elementary school, gas stations, etc.

Doesn't seem like the shot was well thought out, given the people around - like the little kids...

Tell that to my dad. He was physically unable to work for the last 15+ years of his life. Physically unable. As in, very freakin' sick.

But I guess he was scamming? That's what your comment sounds like. When you understand the issue, try to talk about it. But you don't.

Any idea what kind of a payment someone on FULL disability gets, hypocrite?

A thousand bucks. And they have to pay taxes on it. Because, you know, clearly a disabled person who is collecting a tax-provided benefit should be taxed on what they receive as assistance from the government.

I don't have a problem with the fact he was injured. That sucks! And I'm thankful for his service in the military. But I DO have a problem when someone who DOES NOT NEED the money is receiving such a huge chunk of cash like that.

First of all, don't you dare call "back injuries" BS. That's SUCH a load of crap, and you know it! Have you ever had a severe back injury? I have. Twice.

The first time, I was unable to walk, and wound up put on bed rest for 2+ weeks. I damn near lost my job because of that.

The second time, I could barely walk when I tore a large muscle in my back. It hurt to breathe. I could barely function for THREE MONTHS while it healed.

This man did suffer a valid injury. No doubt about it. BUT, if he is able to work and making a senator's salary? What the bloody hell is he doing collecting funds he doesn't need?!

I have the utmost respect for our veterans, thanks.

What I DO NOT respect is someone who IS NOT fully disabled and is collecting disability benefits. He is 40% disabled? FINE. Collect WHEN he's unable to work. Otherwise, HE IS NOT in need of those benefits.

My father was on full disability for years. He was unable to do most things, most days, and spent pretty much the last 5 years of his life in bed 20+ hours a day. Don't talk to me about what disability means.

YOU should be ashamed of defending someone who DOES NOT need the benefits, but is taking the money anyway.
