have to say this is a really good blog and i really enjoy reading it. Although i do not always post much, I believe many of those who do have great thoughts and ideas. Please carry on posting as this is a great site for all west ham fans to be a part of.

also has anyone been to villa or stoke, just wondering what parking is like round those stadiums

i think if you consider the type of defender he is forced to be when he plays with upson and faubert he needs to be quick. Alot of defenders are not quick such as Turner. Tomkins is young and good in the air like, he does lack pace i admit that but then you have to question why with two slow centre backs we decided to play a higher line in some games. ( wolves where we were abysmal.)
I do agree Da costa should have played instead but at the beginning of the season he was really bad, maybe he needed his time in the reserves. I also agree that Tomkins should not be first choice next season but you have to see that he is a talent and he will have a bright future. I think if you asked him he would not have wanted to play 23 games next to a guy who gives no guidance, he is only 21 and is still learning

I disagree, realistically he is not good enough for top 10. He could be loaned to the likes of blackpool and have some first team time, whilst not costing us points. His potential is still huge and think about it would you have played well next to Faubert who wonders off and looses his man, Upson who has been shocking this season and specs who is frankly shit. Tomkins deserves more credit for his season, it was only towards the end that the pressure got to him and before that he was the most composed defender we had.

LBM has gone. Gabbidon is not good enough and da costa is a good seccond defender but cannnot carry him. Daprela is a good prospect but is not ready and strong enough for week in week out prem football. your having a laugh with hines starting every game, he just is not good enough yet.

I would say Upson is a good player except for this season, however without signing a contract he needs to go. cash in while we can.
Diamanti should also be sold for reason stated in my previous posts, he is not good enough, he is a luxury player and we cannot play him where he needs to be played. so sell him.
Cole, DO NOT SELL the guy has been poor this season compared to our expectations, however he has had shocking delivery and no strike partner. You are spot on that at least one key player should be sold to reinforce the squad.

Ye i would agree, diamanti is one of the three in those formations i would be happy to see go. That is purely down to his work rate and the fact he simply is not a winger, if we cant play him in the right position then cash in on him. I also agree that collison is not a winger but if you replace him with faubert then we have a headless chicken, at least jack has a head on his shoulders. in both formations i have tried to play people in their correct positions, however it is impossible. we dont even have a starting 11 who fit together as they should. I could write a list of players i think we should sell which i know people wont agree with but at the end of the day there is a reason we finished where we did. we have a weak starting 11 and if we get an injury we have a championship side.

I dont think the club have made a decision yet. Contracts dont usually run out until early july so they are probably seeing who else is available.

I know this doesn't relate to the post but just wanted to show my opinion on the current squad, Im sure many wont agree with me.
442
green
behrami, upson, Tomkins, ilunga
collison, parker, noble, stanislas
cole, diamanti

Leaves centre back weak, both wings weak and shows the need for a true striker to partner carlton. Everyone not in this team I would consider dead wood and even three of the player in this 11 I consider to not be good enough for the prem.

433- what I think suits all the players better
green
behrami, upson, Tomkins, ilunga
collison, parker, noble
stanislas, cole, diamanti

I don’t like this formation but it allows players to be in their better positions.
We have major problems but the structure of a team with a spine of green, upson, parker and cole is solid. The players around them need improving and I would say our bench is a miss match of players not up to the task of prem survival. It is worrying to see how bare the team really is if you try and use a 442 and don’t play anyone out of position.
