That is exactly why I made this memorial to Alice Hawthorne because I felt that as the years passed Atlanta and the world would forget the woman who took her daughter to witness the world.

Atlanta can be an arrogant city and if you get in its way, they will destroy you to protect what they see as the city's 'good name'. Just ask the Wayne Williams, Richard Jewel, and Thomas Autry, what can happen to you when your life experience conflicts with Atlanta's image as a hospitable town.
