Thanks Fred and Ari. It's true social media is an ever-evolving thing and we all have to learn from each other!

As for the URL shorteners I'm fond of is.gd and bit.ly because you can track clicks and I also use ow.ly, mostly because I like the ease of use of Hootlet. Ow.ly links give you a lot of informationin in your Hootlet.com dashboard, however Google doesn't index those links, so I don't use it for marketing my own material.

As I understand it they want your full legal name and not your user name. Your user name is not a legal name.

The lazy businesses will never go away but they won't stay in social media because it's too much work! Either that or they'll automate it which will be as easy to tune out as a banner ad.

Thanks for the link to your post. I tried Topify once before but I didn't like putting their email in place of mine on my profile, maybe I'll take a second look!

That's the beauty of social media, no matter where you live you can engage and create relationships! (Nice to get some Face to face too though!)

I don't really thing the signature thing is a big deal. It's just the same when you upload an image, you have to verify you have rights to use the image.
Here's a link to some good info about this:

Oh, and for all the people who couldn't figure out how to enter a digital signature. What they want is your name. No URL's etc, just your name.

Yep, measuring is incredibly important but I lump it in with listening. I really think some people never get on the bandwagon because social media seems so complex and it really doesn't have to be. By listening (and measuring) you can really be on top of your social media engagement.
