Ed- It's great that you guys have started young with your daughter. One mistake I see a lot of parents making is waiting on discipline, thinking that their child is too young.
Michelle - Thanks for filling out the survey and for being a part of the community here. Hopefully we can all help each other be better parents. And thanks for the additional information for the survey, I will definitely take that into consideration.
Michelle - Thanks for your encouragement. I'm sorry that I haven't kept up with my posting schedule lately. I've had some computer issues as well as some other situations that have taken extra time out of my schedule. I hope to be back in the swing of things from now on.
Jim, I think that one of the reasons that parents don't follow through is because it takes so much effort. It's easier to give in. Like you said this is where our strength, resolve and endurance come in!
Frank - I think that it's something that every family has to figure out for themselves, every situation is a little bit different. I'm glad that you guys found a balance. It's great to have you as part of the community here!
Ed- Finding that balance is very difficult to do and something that I find I have to continually revisit. Just when I think I've got it figured out something changes that starts to eat away at the balance. I think it's important to plan for regular times of evaluation, where you take a step back and just look at where your schedule is at and where you are at personally. Then you can see if there are any adjustments that need to be made. It definitely requires constant attention.
Ed- I was really happy when I came across the list and it has given me new direction in praying for my kids!
Matt--Great comment. That's another part of the struggle, when we're home to really engage with our families.
