My wishes are more like demands -
- Make the Constitution the law of the land which is not to be considered 'living and breathing'
- Establish a gold standard for our currency
- Term limits for president, senators and congressmen
-Elected officials who choose to break our laws would lose their seat and serve the maximum sentence
- All proposed legislation would need to undergo a review for compliance with the Constitution and tossed if not in compliance. Legislators repeatedly proposing such bills would be expelled from the Capitol as they are either incompetent or corrupt or both.
-Establish the flat tax
-Gradually phase in vouchers and phase out mandatory K-12 public education.
- Drill, drill, drill
-Elimination taxpayer $$ going to organizations such as the ACLU and ACORN.
- Build the fence along the Mexican border
Very interesting reading. Learning about how we got into this mess is essential. Thanks for the link.
While I grant you that some dangerous precedents were started under Bush, most of our problems started long before that. Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. How many of us know how the Federal Reserve got started and why? How many of us know when and why our banks decided to drop thousands of years of conservativism to lend money to people with no collateral or jobs? How many of us understand why the Founding Fathers set up the Electoral College? Do we really understand how radical those founders were and how our infant country has offered us just a blip of freedom over-centuries long traditions of despots, kings and tyrannts? Enough with the Bush/Obama/Republican/Democrat rhetoric. All of these folks have sworn to uphold the Constitution and refuse to do so. They probably haven't read it since high school. If they don't even bother to read a document that has bankrupted my children's children, you can bet they don't have a clue about the Federalist Papers. Blaming Bush for anything more than his part of the blame is pointless. There is plenty of blame to go around, including that face looking back at us in the mirror.
Has anyone else noticed that our country was launched by the Founding Fathers. Not one guy who came out of the wings and said, "I have the answers. Trust me. Rally around me." Is there any possibility that the many high profile conservative voices could band together toward this common goal of protecting the Constitution and shrinking our government? I don't think any one person can step forward and fix this. I'll do all I can, but I still think we need highly visible people to band together and champion our cause.
It sounds good, Phil, but this last election demonstrated to me that the liberals have tapped a huge number of people who are voting without any idea of who they are voting for. The package is nice. They have encouraged the illegals. They even enourage patients in mental hospitals to vote - and we KNOW their judgment is absent. We need an educated electorate (which has nothing to do with formal education). Like it or not, a lot of people will get all wound up and vote without taking the responsibility to find out what is going on. Our citizenry is no different than at any other time in history. That is yet another reason why the Founding Fathers crafted our government as they did... so pure democracy didn't triumph and neither did aristocratic interests. God help us!
I am so glad to find this thread. I thought I was the only one with this problem and I was doing something wrong. Marks890, you are so right about the ostriches not realizing we're trying to warn them. I'd say one in 20 people I've talked to are likeminded. Most of the rest range from laughing at me, to rolling their eyes, to being openly hostile - like I can actually harm them. They target their negative emotions toward me instead of the govt. Talk about misdirected anger! Fortunately, being the best=liked person in town is not one of my top priorities. I'm looking out for my family and close friends now. And thanks Glen for this site:))
Has anything been posted to date about bumper stickers? I know this sounds trivial, but it would help us find each other in ways other than the internet. How about "I'm a 912er"??
