Great insights, Mr. Price. Of course, the real test for Light will be a month from now, when he lines up vs. Jason Taylor and the rest of Miami's rushing attack. Like the Bills, the Fins have had their problems -- I wonder if Cam's going to see a Year 2 as Miami head coach, though none of this is really his mess, IMHO -- but they always bedevil Brady. (Your last quote, Belichick on the Welker-Moss lateral, just reminded me of Brady's ill-fated pass while seated a year or two ago -- a week after a successful completion -- that Miami picked off.)

That being said, I think this Patriots team is, dare I think it, better than the 3 Bowl winners, and the line is certainly more mature and in sync. I haven't seen Light turnstiled yet this year, and the newbies are a little less new. As long as Mankins doesn't punch anybody in the rocks -- at least in sight of the refs -- it should be nuthin' but blue skies ahead.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to give kudos to the O-line; with only one or two exceptions, Brady was practically lounging in the pocket while waiting for receivers to get open and, though the Bills have been having problems, their rush has typically given Brady fits in the past. The O-line has really stepped it up in these first few games, and they generally neutralized Shawne Merriman last week, which we all know is no easy task.

Also, it was great to see Seau playing with such effectiveness, as well as his typical fire. Looks like he's 100 percent -- and maybe this won't be his last year, after all. Also, I didn't see the agate, but it looked like hard-hitting James Sanders notched a dozen tackles in the first half alone. That can't be true, but No. 36 was everywhere it seemed.

Haven't seen dominance yet this season from Bruschi, but I'm already launching a preemptive strike against anyone who dares say he's done -- didn't he lead the Pats in tackles last year? Calm down, everyone -- I truly believe that Tedy will get his, but the fact that New England has given up 35 points in three games -- that is, they have yet to yield as many points all season as they've scored in just one of their first three games -- shows that EVERYBODY on D is firing on all cylinders (pardon the cliche).

Disastrous! Brady got benched late in the game (probably because of the fumble) and Randy Moss was up to his old tricks, blatantly disrespecting the team and the league by giving away a ball -- NFL property -- to a young fan after Moss scored his second touchdown. I just knew that guy was going to be trouble.

Seriously, it's hard to find anything not to like about yesterday's game -- at least Qs 2-4 -- except that, by failing to shut out the Bills, the Pats denied me 8 points in fantasy football, plus the fact that I missed Belichick's press conference because I had to drive to work. And, because I had to work, that meant I couldn't drink beer while watching the game. So a few problems, after all.

Regarding Wilfork, I truly believe he went in cleanly but, falling, ending up right at Losman's knee. I'm trying to find the clip of the hit, b/c I don't remember any arm swipe after the fact.

years, yards ... what's the difference?

I think the comment about Moss, as great as he's been, making other receivers better (at least freeing them up) is apt, though I think something a little different is at work with Welker. He's already stepped right into and, perhaps exceeded, the Troy Brown role of chain-moving go-to guy, as well as last positive yardage resort when other receivers are covered. But I think he was always capable of excelling in that role -- it's just that he's only now getting the ball thrown to him by an already legendary quarterback who is just stepping into his prime, rather than the not-ready-for-prime time QBs he worked with in Miami. Jay Fielder's a serviceable signal-caller, but -- and this will be the understatement of the year, or week, anyway -- he sure ain't Brady.

Vis-a-vis the defensive backfield: I haven't seen anything spectacular, yet, but it truly could be that they're playing so well that nobody's even had a chance, yet, to try any big plays 30 years or so past the line of scrimmage. It still looks like Asante isn't quite game-ready, and I haven't seen the big hits from Wilson or hard-hitting James Sanders that I'm accustomed to. But, again, it could be that not much has come their way: Adalius and Rosey sure ain't leaving much in the way of table scraps for them, if Weeks 1 and 2 are any indication.

And to think -- this is the Pats defense WITHOUT Seymour and Harrison. Koing!

Norv's super-secret measures must have included writing the plays down in invisible ink ... then forgetting how to retrieve them. See, Norv, on "Mission: Impossible" Peter Graves used to get the message first, THEN it would self-destruct. You know, kind of like the Chargers did last night.

And LT ... there's no crying in football.
