This is heart breaking, but exactly why I support animal rescue groups like Saving Great Animals ( http://www.savinggreatanimals.org ) and Puget Sound Rescue ( http://www.pugetsoundrescue.org/ ). The volunteers at these rescue groups will do everything to help an animal and prevent it's unnecessary killing. Hopefully a full investigation will help reveal the break-down that caused this tragic event and changes will prevent it from happening again in the future.

I'm a small business owner in Kirkland ( Picnics Hot Dogs ) and I've been having troubling finding people for positions I have available. We pay more then the other fast food restaurants and have had no luck getting applicants for an assistant manager position. I'm sure more mainstream jobs in larger companies are very competitive, but in my industry we are not seeing that large pool of people looking for employment.

I urge everyone to vote for Picnic's Hot Dogs as the best place for a quick bite to eat in Kirkland. Thank you and have a great summer!

Just after this accident happened, I thought "not again". I moved up to Seattle just over two years ago and a similar accident happened in Southern California on the 405 in Mission Viejo where I lived. In that accident the truck slammed into a minivan and two children where killed with the third (his birthday) was flown to the hospital. The family had to make the same choice to remove life support days later and the entire city was in sorrow. There wasn't a tree in Mission Viejo without a yellow ribbon as we showed our support for the family.

My heart felt blessings go out to this family after this tragic event. Know that you have the support of your friends and community to help you through this.

I live very near this accident and see cars speeding often - racing, passing down the center, etc. They race down Lakeridge Drive and onto Rainier, less then 1/2 mile from where this car hit the tree. Perhaps this will help in getting more done to reduce speeders. I'd love to see speed cameras along Rainer and speed bumps on Lakeridge Drive.

Does anyone know if any of the local dog rescue groups will be at this event to help raise awareness of how many animals are in need of adoption?

What great weather we have for today on July 4th! I'm planning to swing by Picnics Hot Dogs at Totem Lake West, pick up some dogs and head out to enjoy the weather and festivities. Sunshine, Hot Dogs, Parades and Fireworks - the perfect way to celebrate July 4th! Don't forget sunblock.

Hot Dogs are one of the least appreciated foods - there are so many different styles and flavors, and when combined with quality dogs and fresh toppings, they can be a great alternative to greasy hamburgers and pizza. In Seattle, the best Hot Dogs are at Picnic's Hot Dogs in Kirkland - they have over 24 different styles from all across the country and even offer a gluten free menu. Their website is http://www.picnicsdogs.com and they are well worth a visit.

Happy Fourth Of July - I know many of you will be enjoy a hot dog this weekend.
