Eight years is too harsh for leaving a kid on a four-lane highway, hoping someone will run over the child and kill him in a most heinous way? Actually, eight years is a walk in the park compared to what I would have done to her!!

My point is, your use of 'girls' is really demeaning and insulting.

Tim Eyman should run for office and find out what it really takes to get things done in Olympia. And quit with all the initiatives.

4th degree assault is a misdemeanor!!!!! That's a ridiculous non-punishment. Oh wait, this IS Washington, where it really doesn't matter if you commit a crime; the courts won't mind a bit.

It's not necessarily the part about whether it was wrong, but the part about telling. Because abuse victims are told not to tell, and they are given various reasons why, like death threats, or threats against the family, or that the victim is just as guilty as the perpetrator so telling would only bring shame and disgrace to the child -- all kinds of reasons why not to tell. Hearing from a trusted authority (in this case, his pastor) that the victim is not to blame and it's OK to tell, and in fact it's GOOD to tell, that's the part that a lot of victims need to hear in order to come forward.

Why is this news??

What are the actual facts in this story? There's the fact that his contract has not been renewed. The reason has not been disclosed so this man has been publicly theorizing as to why. It's sort of like being dumped by your girlfriend/boyfriend and then sitting around wondering why, and making up reasons which may or may not be plausible. We (the public) have no other facts about this man's work habits, professionalism, skills, etc., and it seems really bizarre to be presented with this one sliver of non-information, to be told a skewed version of things as if it's the only possibility.

What a bunch of losers. If they ever had a message, it got lost somewhere between attacking a private citizen's car for no particular reason and assaulting a peace officer. They need something else to do in life, like working in the salt mines....
