thanks Kiran. After spirit, will I install blacksnow (from Cydia) and can unlock it, then I have an unlocked and un-tethered jailbreak?

Hi,
I have 3.1.2 and bb 05.11.07. Have never jailbreak nor unlocked before.
Can this be safe?
1) spirit to un-tethering jb
2) In Cydia, install blackra1n to unlock it.

Are these steps recommended and working? Anyone has tried it?
