So, let's suppose I have an ATT locked phone and I use SAM method to unlock my phone to work with my wife's tmobile sim. Will the phone still work with any original Att sim? Will the phone work with any other tmobile sim or just my wifes?
Also, anyone knows if after restoring the phone the unlock for the Tmobile sim remains?.. Thanks

Just Jailbreak.!

whatever you do don't update to a stock firmware!! fist make a custom Firmware with redsn0w, put your phone in pwned mode and then flash the resulting NO_BB firmware to your phone with itunes, so you don't update your baseband.
After you flash the NO_BB proceed to jailbreak your phone with redsn0w.
NOTE: If you update to a stock firmware with itunes you won't be able to unlock your phone anymore. So make sure you use the No_bb firmware created with redsn0w.

Use Redsn0w to create a Custom firmware, put your phone in pwned mode and restore to that firmware using itunes. then use Jailbreak option in Redsn0w to jailbreak and hacktivate.

Custom firmware created with redsn0w are not Jailbreaked like pwnage tool! you have to jailbreak your device now!! go to RedSn0w and hit Jailbreak

You can always use iclarified tutorials. http://iclarified.com/jailbreak/index.php

you shouldn't be restoring from a backup if you just updated to 5.0.1 or at least its not recommended if you are jailbreaking your device. its really up to you. You could just select "Setup as new" and then sync back all your apps, mails, notes, etc...

WOW!!!! Hey! Stop don't do that!! you'll damage your GPS!! smhabib1 doesn't have a clue of what he's talking about!!! don't go near a stock firmware....
Use RedSn0w to Create a custom Firmware, put the phone in pwned DFU mode with redsn0w also then flash this NO_BB custom firmware to your phone using iTunes. After that you'll just need to Jailbreak the phone using the latest redsn0w.
