16 years ago @ SEO Hosting Blog - DISQUS vs IntenseDebat... · 0 replies · +4 points

I started with Disqus and set up dozens of clients with it. Then, I tried IntenseDebate and fell in love with its ease of managing CSS, embedding images, embedding YouTube video, and the overall GUI and user-environment. Disqus is a good product, but IntenseDebate seems to understand what the heck it is that I, and my clients, truly need. What's worse, though, is that the guys of Disqus told their users in 2008 that "we" would have the ability to embed images and video by summer 2009. That never happened, and we were all disappointed.

Another little thing about Disqus that I just couldn't stand is the fact that links opened in the same window. I iframe a lot of my threads for clients as part of a managed content service. It is frustrating as hell to have destination links open inside of the iframe. Intense Debate developers were smart enough to think ahead and make sure that all user-embedded URIs and URLs opened with _blank by default. Very smart.

We've had a stain on our ceiling for some time, but I didn't think much of it until this started showing up:

How much trouble am I in ~ LOL? I might need a mold inspection. What do you think?

Thanks,
Bill

How long does this type of inspection take, and do you charge more for it? I might be interested in finding out where my home is "leaking" hot and cold air. What's involved? I appreciate your attention to my issue.

To whom it may concern: My family and I have been traveling quit a bit in the past year. While gone, our home has been through some nasty weather. Now that we're back, I can see shifted siding and a stain on our living room wall. Looks like water damage, but I can't tell. Not sure what else may be wrong, but I'd be willing to have you come out. Please send me a private message through this commenting system to let me know if you have the time or desire to perform an inspection.

Hi Ed. I've attached a photo for you to review. This is a shot from the basement of my 12 yr. old home which is 9 months into a one year warranty. The "repair" was completed shortly after I purchased this home and is supposed to be covered under the warranty. It's my guess that there are more problems. Please take a look at this and let me know if you think this is indicative of needed one of your warranty home inspections.

Ed, I just paid $450,000ish to have a new home built. There are some things that look shoddy which has me a bit concerned. I would like your opinion about what you think I should do about it from an inspection standpoint. In other words, how can you help me fix this so that I don't end-up with either a money pit or death trap. I've tried speaking to the builders, but they "assure" me nothing is wrong. My gut tells me differently. Thanks in your advance for your help.

Mr. Reeve, I am about to sell my 28yr old home in Suwanee, GA. It's got it share of "defects", but I am slightly more concerned about a musty smell in some rooms. Barring tearing down walls, I wanted to know what you could do to help me identify where this stink is coming from. Let me know your answer, and I will call you based on that. Thank you for your time.

Hi, Ed. My wife and I are about to buy a home in Gwinnett County. I've heard of something called "Chinese Drywall", and I think our desired home has it. What do you know about this type of drywall, and why should we be concerned? Also, would you be available the week of Jan. 25th to perform an inspection to assess our risk? Thanks, Robert.

I'm big fan of Alpharetta, GA (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpharetta,_Georgia)..." target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpharetta,_Georgia)... My family and I have been living near there for many years. It's got everything you'd want from specialty shopping to big-box retail. What's nice about it is the money. There's lots of it, so the stores, schools, and grounds are very pleasant and clean.

A typical Alpharetta home...

You need to watch out for the city of Duluth which is just south of Alpharetta. Though Duluth used to be THE jewel of Gwinnett County, it is quickly becoming a backlot due to the massive amounts of construction the city has experienced in the past ten years. That's not to say Duluth isn't nice. In fact, it is still a great place to raise a family. It's just getting slammed with new growth...and you know what that ultimately brings.
