since i couldn't find it elsewhere - what's the deal with captcha implementation? or as a community have we decided that its no longer necessary?

personally i've been using imhuman plugin where you click on pictures like 'click on all the cats' to show you are human instead of regular captcha/recaptcha.

is there a place for this in intense debate? or am i missing something....
