1. Get an original sim or phonebook sim to pass the emergency scren (connect to itune)
2. go to a place with wifi an connect your iphone to it
3. open safari on your iphone and go to the JB website (jailbreakme. com)
4. slide to JB, wait, then go to cydia and search for ultrasnow and download it

try putting that sim in another phone and remove the pin code from it completely and then redo what u did on your iP

PHONEBOOK SIM, thats your answer, if you can get it then you are safe to update to IOS 4
and i think if you were AT&T some underground iPhone dealers would have one for activation

and just dont upgrade further than 4.0.1 for now, and generally do not update unless you know there is a jB for the FW you'll update to
