Absolutely! That's why I moved to Berthoud! I love the small town and hope it stays that way.

Wow, I actually had a wonderfully fun time writing this article and I'm sorry if it offended you for some odd reason. Feel free to message me personally if you'd like to have an intelligent dialogue about your concerns instead of anonymous criticism.

First, thanks for reading. I'd love to address some of your concerns.
1. I did write more about the fire that was 10+ years ago, but it seems to have been cut in the editing process. That is unfortunate, because it would have answered more of your questions.
The original story says that she lost everything she owned in an accidental house fire, which set her up for appreciating how you can enjoy your life with less stuff.
2. Vivienne is not my friend and if you notice, I did not link or even mention the name of her ebay site. In fact, I don't even know it.
3. The top photo is not a very accurate representation of her - I agree! Not sure what happened there!

Finally, if you click on the interactive link, it allows you to read the blog excerpts more clearly. Unfortunately, the only way New Hive allows you to embed a graphic into a website somewhat distorts and shrinks the original image, which is why we included the external link.

I hope that helps answer some of your questions.

I hear ya. OK, so check my column this Sunday and let me know if you like its style better. I left the anecdote out this week in honor of our discussion. I do love hearing feedback from people about how to better tell Boulder's stories. Truly! I definitely don't claim to know All Of The Things, and I agree that we should all keep evolving and striving to improve.

Ironically, I also recently received this e-mail. Ha! Like everything, I guess storytelling is also a matter of personal preference: "I really don't give a rat's about anything else honestly, but I've come to enjoy your columns, or at least the beginnings when you lead up to the actual article's subject. In other words, I'm not apt to be going to shop at the latest second hand store that some gal just opened or buy some cute earings here or there, but your stories are a hoot. I've even mailed some to a friend of mine in California."

Regardless, thanks for putting in the time to throw around ideas with me, Matt. And thanks for reading! I can't promise you that you won't ever have to endure another "irrelevant" story from me, but I can promise you that everything I do, I pour my heart into and always try my best.

I have an e-mail out to my main source to clarify this information. I may have received incorrect information. However, I am curious to learn more about what you have in front of your house! I may make a special stop by there soon. ;) Thanks for sharing!

As I understand, this is the first little library that is public, organized by the NoBo Arts District and supported by the Boulder Public Library, right?

Matt, I apologize if you didn't like the story. The reason for the anecdote at the beginning is this is a column. I have been writing a column in the paper for about a decade. All of my columns begin with anecdotes. This is just one style of reporting. More traditional styles begin with the most important information first. If you are interested in learning more about journalism and the many different ways that people can choose to tell a story, feel free to e-mail me personally. Thanks for reading and sharing your feelings!

Thanks for reading. I get what you're saying, but this was only meant to be lighthearted. I think we all take things too seriously sometimes. Myself included.

And sure, I'd love a hug! I also invite you to come by the Daily Camera office in person and we can talk about my self-esteem face to face.
