How much do you want to bet he had his shirt off when he made those comments? That or he had some lackey in the background engineering some sort of "situation" that would provide the megalomaniac with yet another "unexpected" situation to provide his media with even more photographic evidence of how manly he is.

Under any other circumstances, someone acting like this, and as incessantly as he does, would invite endless hours of entertainment ridiculing his hyperactive Alpha status assertions through media coverage. But the fact is that no matter how absurd his antics get, one thing is frighteningly obvious. Whether the KGB actually shut down, went underground, or simply took on a new identity, it's very clear that Putin, at least in his mind, never left the world of Cold War espionage. And I think it's something he would very much like to see make a return to reality.

It's our very own Prypiat.

Well, except the fact that the Detroit meltdown was political, rather than nuclear.

And the fact that if you don't include the radioactive factor, Prypiat has actually shows less decay than Detroit.

But one was due to a huge screw up by a bunch of communists, and the other was due to a huge screw up by a bunch of..... Oh wait.... I'm repeating myself. Nevermind...

And I should add that over the course of it's unfathomably rapid implosion, from one of the oldest and greatest cities in the nation to something that makes Prypiat look like prime real estate, the political positions of power were held by one party exclusively. And we also cannot forget that prior to it's accelerated decay, this was the city that would be used to showcase the progressive "City of the Future". Of course, once it became obvious that the results of this experiment were turning into a huge political liability, the promoters of the "Ideal City" ran as far and fast as they could from it. The corruption continued on almost every level of government with relative impunity, resulting in what we have now. A barren wasteland and a huge burden upon the citizens of the state of Michigan, as well as the rest of the nation who contribute to the blind federal funding it receives.

The Progressive model run amok. And if the hyper-progressive buffoon in the White House has his way, a perfect example of what's in store for the rest of the country.

I've lived near Detroit my entire life, and everyone of the earlier generations of our family grew up there.

Newsflash... Detroit went bankrupt a long, long time ago.

They just think it's something cool from a movie they liked, as you know. So little things, like facts and history, are irrelevant. And considering the general leanings of the academic circle, I highly doubt anyone in the schools will put much effort towards actually informing them. Of course, that's assuming they even know anything about it themselves. It did happen well before the 1960's protest era, which is the beginning of time for a lot of liberal buffoons. History prior to that is primarily understood through the eyes of Hollywood for these people...

Because something like 4 dollar per gallon gasoline is freaking awesome for our economy. And double awesomeness, that gasoline is at the whim of a group of people that pretty much hate us. So a local source that happens to also be a solid ally is a bad thing. I mean, a cricket could be squished during the pipeline construction. That would be horrible.

Wonderful. Yet again, political correctness is allowed to crap all over the Constitution yet again.

A bunch of farmers once banded together and successfully fought off the greatest military force in the world, to create a place where freedom was not subject to the whim of an elite few. And as a result, the greatest nation in the world grew from those humble beginnings.

My, how far we have fallen...
