As far as the question goes as to: does waterboarding work or not?? That is actually irrelevant IMHO, despite any just cause to try and get invaluable info or intel if at all possible. What is relevant however, is what does one do with the very tragic, mis-guided criminals (including failed suicide-bombers et al) and common extremist combatants who got captured failing to take this village or that??

This Naval show of support is nothin abnormal, IMHO. Nothing to freak out about. An exercise is an exercise... it's still abou the cold-war, nothing much more. You know... Kremlin will support Syria and expand the threat matrix there as well as expand the threat matrix of Iran... as USN will counter-balance with its own show of force.
