If you never installed it, then it should not be "in" your iPhone, I don't think it auto install itself.

Mine too, 2G just doesn't like push notification for some reason. I just accepted and use my 3G/3GS

I am on official carrier too, and having an unlocked phone is really an additional feature for me as I am able to take my iPhone with my travels. I use a pre-paid SIM instead of roaming, save a lot of bucks and on some country like Thailand, they have a prepaid SIM with unlimited data for a month on cellular network and unlimited data on wireless on TRUE (SP). Having my iPhone with me with pre-paid SIM with data really helped, it's like having a tour guide in your pocket.

I'm sure our fighting men and women will not mind an iphone even if it's crashing a lot.

upgrade FW to 3.1.2, blackra1n and blacksn0w supports only 3.1.2 and 5.11.07

if you upgrade FW through iTunes it will be UN-JB, so yeah you need to re-JB then blacksn0w to unlock.

I have to agree, although I have not had any issues with either 5.11.07 or 4.26.08 on either of my iphones, why even bother and take a chance. I see so many issue other are having, maybe I just got lucky?? I was going to upgrade my other iphone with 4.26.08 since I had no trouble at all after upgrading to 5.11.07 and unlocking it. maybe I just got lucky?? Then, better not push my luck
