Thanksgiving was south GA with 4-wheelers, cotton pickers, and fishin'. Needless to say, my boys loved it.

nope, they copied spiderman, he's actually an ancient Zoroastrian hero... ok, maybe not, fair enough, still it is a classic spidey line, and everyone knows if Jesus and and Arthur were alive today they'd be comic book fans... that and Battlestar Galatica.

good word man, and just to add a quote from spiderman "with great power, comes great responsibility", and you are exactly right that not losing everyone else, and taking the time to catch them up is one of those responsibilities.

It seems it would take one to know one, or at least a committee of people to know one. ;)

Pen and paper still rock, right John? The few times I've gotten to hang out with John, he gave me his full attention, took notes on pen and paper, and just disconnected for the length of the conversation. It told me a lot about you, you do champion being "present". Good stuff.

in terms of TLDs, it's like 150, how many do we use, maybe 25, but even that's too many, we're cutting back and simplifying down to maybe 5

"Isn't church online better than no church online?"
You'd think it was that simple wouldn't you? Does Bob Hyatt really think that lifechurch and northpoint, and all of us that do it, should just stop and that's better. I'm glad Paul used the technology of his day (letters) to communicate God's truth to people that were immediately outside the range of his voice. Nobody is saying don't get together in real life with other believers. It's a good thing that people like this weren't around in the early church, he might have really freaked out on Paul when he wrote to the Corinthians (1 Cor 9:22) that "To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some." Do we try to save some, or not? It's that simple Bob. Really. To people that are online, do we go online?
And really Paul gives us a lot of liberty in ways to get the gospel out there, he just wanted it out there, even if people were trying to building themselves up or tear him down to do it (Phil 1:18) he would rejoice in it. That's more than I can do, but it's what we should aim for.

Growing up as the son of a founding pastor of a church, I know this isn't a new issue or even about technology, I'm seeing this issue as both the kid that grew up in it and the father that is now living it. I totally am right with you. I think what got me through it and makes me think that this isn't an unhealthy thing (obviously there is a balance) is that my Dad was able to take me into his world and make me feel a part of it, or at least understand it, and I think if I can do that some with my kids and what I love to do, it will keep that connection and not make it seem like I am choosing one over the other. I think the last thing you want to do is make sound like you are having to choose. Yes family comes first and you gotta read your wife's queue's on if you are out of balance, but being able to bring them along with you on your journey's, I think (and we'll see) is an important thing.
But I a agree with dewde, the intersection of passion and occupation is the recipe for incredible creative potential.

I got it up and working before I saw this, but thanks for putting it up. Do you have any feelings about using an iFrame like you did or the Facebook connect feature with the xd_receiver.htm file and all that (option 2 on http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Liv...
I have to totally agree with the invite thoughts as well, it's not a chat box, but just a comment or two sort of solution.
I'm looking forward to your thoughts on chat as well.
