It would have definitely been a landslide for Obama if Palin was not on the ticket! She brought out many people who didn't like McCain but voted for her. I would have voted for cCain anyway but Palin was my favoirte on that ticket. The Obama campaign grou, the Dems & esp the press were afraid of her & they went after her with all they could. Some people to this day, say she said things that were only said on SNL by Tina Fey. It's a sad state of politics when you have to try to personally destroy your opponent in order to win.
I like Sarah Palin & I have a lot of respect for her & her family's ability to ignore the criticism of the left. I don't always agree with her but she made it easier for me to vote for Se McCain in 2008! I like Julianne Moore but I am disappointed that even tho she researched the Gov, she learned nothing more than what the left has said & has no respect for what the Gov was able to do in Alaska. I know she resigned but the MSM cntinued hounding her & her family for years after the '08 election & was out to destroy her entirely. I love the fact that she makes the press work for a story. Also, if someone went threw 25,000 of your private emails, would they show no wrongdoings. Oh, their disappointment!! Further disappointment when this HBO special (which I won't watch it) airs.
OK. These are kids, still. Do you remember the 1st politician you thought was "cool"? For me, it was JFK. I watched the conventions, (back then they weren't shows), I watched the states vote for candidates. These guys & other young Hollywood ppl went for the 1st black President along w/ hope & change. They aren't looking @ policies, they are looking @ the man. They think he's a nice guy & they don't understand why ppl disagree with him. They will learn as they get older. My last Democratic vote was for Robert Dole. As Americans, we look @ the personality before we see the policies. My 37 yr old son voted for Obama in '08 but his" goal for 2012 is to get rid of Obama". Sometimes learning the difference between personalities & policies takes time. I just wish we had more time & an honest press.
I heard the title of the show & figured it was anti American. I look @ the actors & what they have said about Americans b efore I decide to watch a show. My list of actors has grown as they call us racists for disagreeing with the Pres. I no longer watch any of the 'Law & Order' franchise bevause if a soldier is in the story, he becomes the bad guy or was twisted by the government.
I am sorry that America was not there for your war against terrorism. We didn't understand what terrorism was until 9/11! I think that Americans looked @ the UK & Ireland fighting as a 'family problem'. I know that British soldiers have been fighting side by side w/ our American military & I have the utmost respect for the British military as well as ours. Michael Yon has written some good stories about your military & all that I have read is how professional they are. Americans have never forgotten about the British military in both Afghanistan & Iraq.
As an American, I can say that we don't always see what's going on until we are affected. I am sorry for that!
I watched this "On Demand" & missed that question/comment. I was more interested in his personal thoughts about the day. I like the President & wanted to hear his thoughts. I find Mr. Bush (regardless of politics) to be a sincere man who did the best he could in a time when who would have even thought someone would purposely fly a passenger plane into a bldg?? I never believed he lied but that he did what he thought was necessary based on the intelligence in front of him. If he had not followed that intelligence & something happened, he would have been criticized ... "damed if he does; dammed if he doesn't". I also liked his graciousness towards Mr. Obama, even as he blames everything on Bush.
People, this story WAS reported on Fox News, saw it there before I read it here. I watch Fox regularly & they did get this story. Just thought I'd pass the info along!!
The American flag should NEVER be under a foreign country's flag, esp here in the USA!!! It has nothing to do with 9/11 & has everything to do with being an American city / state / citizen in the USA. Would you find an American flag above the flag in any other country?? NO!! If you want to recognize the different countries epresented by your students, then take small flags & hang them across the wall in a common room but never in place of the American flag. Of course if your students are American citizens, the American flag s/ suffice. Since when do Americans shy away from the flag? What gas happened to my country???
I watched her Iowa speech on C-Span saturday but what I thought was even better than her 5 points (which were great!) were the conversations with the people who stood in the crowd. She signed whatever was given her to sign & spoke to the people, answererd their questions, had pictures taken as asked, asked kids their age / grade in school. She spoke to young people - boys & girls. So much for Rick Perry's retail political skills. She is better than he is. She has a genuine concern for people she talks to & talks from her heart.
My father was a member of Hoffa's Teamsters 107 in Phila & found the corruption in it. It was this Hoffa's father & when he was in charge, people died on streets of Phila @ the hands of union members who didn't like the fact that you disagreed with them! Doesn't that sound familiar? It should because that's how the Dems react - name calling as tho you could not have a difference of opinion that is sincere & genuine & where the Tea Party is concernced, we have the "Congressional" Black Caucus condeming Americans who disagree with them! The SEIU which beat up a black man who was a member of the St. Louis Tea Party because he was there, a black man part of the Tea Party!
