BTW, state parks are NOT funded with taxes. Zero ($0) general fund. Haven't been since, uh, 2000 or something like that.

If the Cow Creek Band doesn't mind, why should anyone else? Your school name is a symbol of pride. If anything, calling them the Indians has a _positive_ effect on the kids who go to school. They learn to associate feelings of pride with the word, rather than feelings of shame over our treatment of the people who were living here when we moved in during the mid 1800s.

No, ODOT _doesn't_ have the money to do this. Another state agency -- this strange Oregon Travel Experience outfit -- hired a lobbyist to convince a legislator to try and take money away from ODOT. Money ODOT doesn't have. So if this goes through, some other public service will suffer. Those kinds of shenanigans -- one public agency poaching money from another to line its own pockets -- is the real story here.

Yes, nearly all of it, and this claim is a lie. Why doesn't that bother you? The facts are plain: in an independent survey of small, medium and large businesses, the top reason they don't hire more people is fear of the cost of providing health care. Not "taxes" and not "government regulation." Businesses fear health care costs. If you cared about putting people back to work, you'd support any law that starts to address the problem.

This reply is for both you and Donnell ... you seem to be focused on a person you don't like (the president), instead of trying to solve a problem that is holding back the economy. Every law that rolls out has weaknesses ... that happens when you compromise and sacrifice ideology for progress. Health care costs are an important problem, and we can't solve it if we're wasting time on personal attacks.

Ah. So the _government_ forced the private company to hire foreign nationals. Interesting. How?

Kinda interesting how you took what a private company did and turned it into the government's fault.

Because the cops and prosecutor have access to the evidence none of us know anything about, or they're proffering this lesser charge at the outset in an attempt to persuade the kid to cooperate ("See? We know you didn't mean it. Now, where is she?"). Once they have the body, and depending on how that changes the evidence, they can up the charges. These tactical decisions aren't driven by the public bloodlust that cries out for righteous vengeance.

That's highly unlikely, given the scope of the problem. It's much more likely the original source of bacteria was irrigation water contaminated by livestock feces.

Well, dearie, what a person does for their job has nothing whatsoever to do with whether they're my friend or not. Conversely, if someone is a cop AND my friend (and I have two that fit that description), I still expect them to do their job, even if it means busting me. That's why it's called "duty" and not "friendship time." If you expect otherwise, maybe your comprehension of what law enforcement entails is deficient.
